I think you'd be hard pressed to snap off one of the original bolts with a 3/8" drive.
Maybe drill it out and try a remover.
The 12 point bolts were a good idea, but I think you're right the quality isn't there.
I'd throw them away.

So I believe my original intake bolt mounting holes were drilled wrong on the six pack manifold. I had an iron 440 magnum manifold sitting around so I dropped it on the heads, it lines up perfect side to side with all holes lining up.
So I either hog out the holes on the original aluminum...
Yeah, the battery was in the trunk, old race car. I installed new M&H wire harnesses through out. So moved the battery back up front. It all worked out!

I believe these are original ones, they have quite a bit of wear and tear. I would guess originals, OR they may just be really poorly taken care of repops haha. I messed with the lips on the dishes a bit and managed to get them to lock in place ok a while ago. I think I just need to try...

Thats what I put in my wagon recently. Direct bolt in, clears oe exhaust. However...if you have headers, which I do, you have to do some thumping. For my 67 w/440 and Hedmans, #3 & #5 had to get thumped some.
