I think that you need to get away from a lead acid battery. Your elctrolite is weeping out of the vents. Guess that can be from over filling the cells. Acid level should not be above just touching the bottom of cell ring. I have 4 of them in my motorhome and have never had that happen.

The side hung float bowls have way more clearance. The tight fit is the rear carb to center carb clearance. I think they’re Ford bowls if I recall. All 3 carbs have metering blocks & accelerator pumps. The mechanical linkage I had was progressive I think (many years ago)
