Hard seats in any aluminum head. So no, you don't need lead additive. If it's detonating on the available gasoline, you might need an octane booster.

Nasty gap? If mounted properly the inner top side of the panel fits perfectly to the rounded tops of the clips.

Clips I purchased years ago from Year One are soft/flexible and allow the trim to pull away from the body enough to show a nasty gap. A Gap that is the FIRST thing seen when approaching the car. FYI.

Sorry I must recommend scrapping the idea. Imagine the pleasure of some other upgrade to your car (anything) if given this much effort, time and attention. Consoles rattle, collect junk, and have misaligned panels. They are over rated. IMHO.
