    Then there is also the increased suction as the piston goes up, cancelling the gains on the down stroke. Reduced crankcase gas density could lower rotating resistance, I suppose.

    My daily driver is a Pontiac. But it's a Montana, so not very exciting. The two Pontiacs that I had that were more energetic were a 1972 LeMans convertible with 455H.O., and a 1974 Formula 400 4 speed. :)

    R.I.P. Bob! I often found his opinions (which were just his, of course) to range from being interesting, to insightful, to sometimes provably wrong. But even then it was always interesting to see him wind up some people like a cheap watch. And he never did reveal to us the correct torque...
