AND, your ammeter is moving to the "charge" direction every time you switch on the lights. i.e. you've rendered the ammeter useless as an accurate charging monitor. Using the battery as a power source for the headlight relays is fine if you have an idiot light or a voltmeter charging monitor...

I soaked mine in molasses solution, pressure washed, painted with hi temp and cured in kitchen oven. They look great after 4000 miles. Another option is Slip Plate- there are reviews on here about it-
