Haha... I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that nobody on this planet would select a cam based on LSA alone! My overlap numbers are from the .050 like the desk dyno does when you enter the specs.
Using advertised duration numbers, the Howards cam is 71 degrees, "4" on DV's chart. Hughes...
100% on that. No cranky gramma cams!
The 108 LSA it is so... for 6000 rpm, the Hughes and Howards are there.
23/24 overlap should sound nice.
Thank for the input!
Howards - 238/242 .555/.562 @ 108
Hughes - 236/242 .546/.562 @ 108
Lunati - 238/242 .513/.533 @ 110
Comp - 241/247 .545/.545 @ 110
We haven't used a lot of Comp cams lately... only a couple 268's in some Chevys. They've been great so I'd try one.
Those numbers are similar. More...
I'm selecting a cam and thinking these hydraulic flat tappet units are in the range.
The car is basically a Saturday night special... but we do some highway road trips too. I don't care if I give up some low end for a better sound and top end!
I'd like to hear your experience driving with...
My 70 has a 440 833 8.75; I had 4.10's in it with 27" tires. It was great banging through the gears around town but on the highway it was buzzing up around 3300 rpm... no good in my books. We planned a group road trip so we swapped the 4.10's out for 3.23's and 28" tires. As expected the car was...
Yes I like 5 spokes... both old school and new. When did those Daisy mags get so expensive... holy moly!
I had a set on my old daily driver van... that I kept them when I sold it (but they're 5 on 5 bp).
A few of us locals here on the Saanich peninsula / Vancouver island did a little road trip this summer to Penticton for their annual show (7 1/2 hours away including the ferry). We met some friends there and had a great time! Just thought I'd share some pics;
We have to take a 2 hour ferry ride...
Agree 100%
I have a Chev (I know my bad). I had Cragar street pros w/letters out on it and it didn't look very good (too much bling). I changed it to natural ETs w/letters in and I think it looks a lot better now.
I'm just asking to see what you folks would go with... and I don't dislike any of the ideas.
Generally speaking, I don't race and I don't do car shows. Another set of wheels is just for fun.
In the picture without the caps they're 275/60 15 and 235/60 15. There'll be 245's on the front for next season... and maybe new wheels too :)
There's 255 rears in the pic with the caps on.
I'm running these black dog dish wheels. I have the caps but I prefer the look without. They're cool but I'd like to get a second set of flashier wheels for it. Rallyes, Magnums... mags? Old school or new? Just thought I'd tap into the collective here and see what you folks like. Post me a pic...
Update; I put the tail stripe on it (came with the car), 275 rear tires and 3.23 gears. I removed the front seat upholstery repaired the frames... redid the foam etc. Looks pretty good so far I think. We did a 600+ mile Okanagan road trip and it ran ok but I'll have to do an engine and trans at...
