I am doing some clean up on my engine compartment. Just had my intake manifold coated and am in the process of reinstalling. The intake is an Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap. I have always used carb spacers/insulators to help prevent vapor lock and hard starting because of fuel evaporation due to heat...
Anyone ever change the rear spark plugs on a '66 or '67 SB Chevy II? How about a Monza with the 262? '67 Mercury Comet with a 427? All the manufacturers have had their Oops or Gotcha engineering issues. Doesn't mean the car wasn't designed for that power plant it's just human error or an Oh...
Noise issue solved! My problem was three fold. Two rockers were slightly touching the valve cover on the passenger side. Leaking collector gasket. And the issue with the increase in noise when the ac compressor was engaged was found when I removed the passenger side valve cover. The bolt that...
Really hope not. fingers crossed. Did talk to a couple of my buddies, both old time hot rodders. When I mentioned the noise and showed them the videos they both laughed and said that the old cast aluminum valve covers were notorious for valve train noise. Suggested loosening and trying to...
I think $550 is fair especially if you can get the accessories with it. You will need the brackets. Be aware that some motorhome 440's used a right side outlet water pump. If you have a left side radiator you will need to change the pump housing. Also be careful if you decide to purchase an...
Use the thin .015 head gaskets to pickup a little compression. +2 on the Hughes low compression cam, it will make you happy! The last low compression 440 I had was 7.6 /1 and the cam made all the difference, allows the cylinders to build some extra pressure.
I'll try and get a video. Just seems like the video's usually make it harder to tell where the noise is coming from as it picks up all the ambient noise as well. We will see.
Local machine shop built the short block so I don't know about the cylinder wall clearance. The balancer and pulley bolts are a good idea, as well as the flex plate bolts.
It has a set of old school CalCustom valve covers. Wondering if there is some interference. Have a stethoscope with a hose on it, have been trying to identify the noise but as yet no luck. The increased knock under the load of a Sanden compressor has me puzzled. Would not think the compressor...
I have a long term project that I built with my son. We started when he turned 13 and it took 4 years to complete. The engine is a 318 .030 with Speed Pro L2266 pistons, 302 casting iron heads with big valves and minor port work, small RV type Lunati cam, performer intake and am edelbrock 600...
Bummer, I just checked and the dotimi.com bracket requires an electric fuel pump as the alternator blocks the fuel pump.
Sooo...., still looking for a solution.
Looks good! I need to study the photo some more. The issue I may have is that I am running a right outlet pump. I had to do that to make the radiator work when I put the 440 in my '87 D150. It was originally a 318 truck and the radiator has a right hand lower outlet. Don't really want to have to...
