After six months of not parking within the range of anyone, the very first time I parked at a convenience store, my '72 Satellite got wacked.
I parked to the far right so that no car could pull up along my passenger side. I carefully opened my driver's door and went inside. As I was just about...
I never thought his process of double-painting was a bad idea. For my own vehicles, I don't want a "show car" finish. What for? I like the look of a fresh factory finish.
Which reminds me, Worman constanly brags over and over again how he restores everything to OEM specifications so his...
To clarify: When I mentioned twice, I meant he painted them "twice" on purpose during his standard practice of restoration. He wets sands the color finish and then paints it over again.
Doing it all over after the paint fails would be another matter altogether.
Many "Graveyard Cars" older episodes have been showing up on youtube this year. Mark has commented several times how he finish paints his restorations "twice" to make them shine and appear picture perfect. My question is wondering if, in the end, that is not the best method for paint longevity...
I took my car in to a busy shop (Mexico), it was out the door in 10 days. That's how efficient, competent people paint cars. Are you willing to wait and pay a shop which parks your car outside, can't remove a bumper (probably just a stall story anyway), and puts you on edge everyday while you...
In 1998, I rolled a 1990 3/4 ton Dodge Ram pick-up with Cummings diesel on a ranch road that had a washout hidden by some weeds (I was only crawling in low-range low. The cab got scrunched. Local body shop wanted about $7,000 for repairs.
I purchased a used cab at a local recycler for $400.00...
Key must be worn, it's a '65 model. Don't know about fitting or working in the glove box, good question (but I don't feel like pulling the key out of the trunk to find out-too much hassle trying to open the trunk again where I store parts, sorry).
Just so you know, and I haven't figured out the specific problem with my lock, but this is how it behaves. It will open, but only after a varied number of tries. The key does not turn on the first try, sometimes it will after 10, 50, or 100 tries. All of a sudden it will open after refusing to...
I saw a few "spots", no fault of my own (was the manner the spray exited the nozzle). Quickly fired up my leaf blower and gave it a shot of tropical storm wind (lol).
The rusty cast iron PH250 small block water pump (six vane) needed a renewal after having been installed ten years ago (with very little mileage): see foto #1.
A power drill and brush miraculously removed almost all the surface rust. Next was a coat of Ospho: see foto #2.
Now I look around my...
I am not convinced food now labeled "with probiotics" really are new and improved. By the same token, I wonder what is going on with the new spray paints (engine enamels, for example) that list ceramic on the label. What is this ceramic purported to do anyway?
These photos are a 1972 model, which may vary somewhat from 1971.
The plastic guides with the grooves sometimes have chips and other defects where the plastic breaks off. I re-used a couple of the "defective' guides as they were, and the window sill slides "OK". Please let us now if you find...
A buddy just mentioned a line of wax products I never heard of before "Torque". Anybody have any knowledge/experience with this stuff? Thank you.
