Hi, Chargerfiles!
Before sending my '69 Charger off for restoration of the body, I removed the front and rear bumpers and they didn't leave the garage until the car came back home (2-1/2 years later). As the original owner, I know the bumpers had never previously been removed from the car...
Hi, Bbody-philes -
My '69 Charger has the vacuum-operated headlight doors, which I like and don't plan to convert. The car has come back to me from a 2-1/2 year restoration, and with the original vacuum hoses, but disconnected beyond the firewall. I'm trying to put it back together so the...
I'm replacing the chromed plastic armrest bases (front and rear) in my car. There seem to be several different options for sources. Are there any recommendations, or any that I should avoid?
Thanks!
Finishing reassembly of my Charger after a 2-1/2 year restoration. The clutch pushrod between the clutch fork and the z-bar has a bend where it connects to the z-bar. Does it bend toward the z-bar or away from it? I have it bending away, and the first time I pressed the clutch pedal the...
RRDon reported in 2020 that he was searching for the Road Runner he previously owned. That thread is now locked for replies (??), but I just read it. I noted one response indicating that after so much time it wasn't likely to be found, no records, etc., and that the authorities probably...
Before sending my '69 Charger off for restoration, my intention was to maintain the original wiring -- which was not in bad shape -- so I took photos and marked the original connections and components. However, after reading about some of the wiring fires others have experienced, I decided for...
Hello again, Charger fans -
I am reinstalling parts removed from my car before sending it off for a 2-1/2 year restoration. My car was not ordered with the optional remote control door mirror, but I was able to find one on a junkyard car years ago and I installed it on mine. Sometime while...
Happy Tuesday!
I am putting my Charger back together after a restoration. I can guess, but does the photo show the correct inlet and oulet locations for the fuel hoses?
Hello, Charger-philes. I'm re-installing the interior in my Charger after restoration of the body. Can someone tell me the size (diameter and length) of the countersunk Phillips chrome screws that go into the scuff plates? My recollection is that the screws in the two forward and aft...
Hello, Charger-philes:
Can someone tell me where the ground cable from the firewall is attached to the rear of the engine (383). What seemed obvious when disconnected 2-1/2 years ago is not so much now after the engine was rebuilt and painted. Yes, I took photos but apparently not enough.
A...
Hello, All -
383 HP engine: does the oil dipstick tube have an o-ring seal where it fits into the block? The Chrysler parts manual shows the tube but not an o-ring.
Thanks!
Hello, Charger Folks!
My Charger is currently finishing a 14-month restoration of the body. I made a lot of photos before pulling the engine for rebuild, but apparently not enough of them. I'm having trouble getting the alternator installed and am hoping someone can provide some photos to...
Hi, Guys -
Does anyone have a clutch disc alignment tool for an A833 4-speed to 383 engine that I can borrow or buy? I bought a new Luk clutch kit several months ago that included the tool, but now that I'm ready to install the clutch I cannot find that tool anywhere. I haven't had the clutch...
I removed the tranny to remove the engine for rebuild. I discovered that I had inadvertently dislodged the release bearing. Does the photo show the correct installation of the bearing on the fork? It seems easy to pop it off.
Thanks!
Mopar Maniacs -
My '69 Dodge Charger is under restoration. The armrest plinths for the doors and rear seat are "chrome"-plated hard plastic. Mine have weathered to yellow. Does anyone know of a place that can restore the plating on these?
Thanks,
I visited my Charger's restoration shop today, and the owner presented me with a document that he found when he removed the headliner. Looks like a final inspection sheet filled out by the paint inspector. Anyone ever seen one of these? I'm wondering what the codes mean that are circled...
Mopar Fans:
I ordered my '69 Dodge Charger new without A/C. In those days, A/C in cars was still something of a novelty, and I had never even ridden in a car with A/C to that point, so factory A/C seemed an unnecessary extravagance. However, a year or so later I had the dealer install an...
Does anyone know if anything is inside the vacuum canister that could be damaged by exposure to 200 deg. F (e.g., plastic, rubber)? I am painting parts removed during an engine rebuild. The paint used requires final cure at 200 deg. F, which I can do in an oven, but I don't want to cook...
The suggestion is made that avatars should be at least 400 x 400 pixels. No matter how large or small I make mine, it won't display all of it. Is there a solution to that? My avatar would be a license plate, but it makes no sense if only half of it is displayed. I tried a small emblem, but...
