Anyone here know what the deck clearance on a 400 is? Mine is running absolutely perfect right now, just planning ahead for some future mods and don't feel like tearing a head off just to check. I've heard 3 numbers, .125, .121 and .080 below the deck.
I need him to take a picture of the tag as he's 100% sure it says 2.14, I'm sure either he's looking at the wrong thing, or he needs to lay off the sauce while working on the car.
A friend of mine swears that his 76 small block Cordoba has 2.14's in the rear, I've looked everywhere and can't find any mention of such a tall gear available in these cars. Is he mistaken or is Google just failing me on this one? That thing must accelerate at about half the speed of smell.
The more I look at it, the more I think the car saw a lot of gravel roads in the past. The front 3/4 of the car has quite a liberal coat of original undercoating still left, whereas from about the axle back, it's quite sporadic and virtually non-existent around the bad area. When I'm finished...
Totally salt free lol, it's the only spot that's rotten on the whole underside of the car, it's bloody weird. Measured the area the other night and it's roughly an 8x8 area that's shot. I'm thinking that it got packed full of mud somehow as it looks like it's rotted from the inside out.
So I was under the rear of the Cordoba the other day getting ready to put the new shocks on and as I slid out from underneath it, I noticed something off about the rear leaf spring perch on the drivers side. It was getting dark so I grabbed my flashlight and what I saw made my heart sink. The...
There's a strategically placed dent on the inside of the tube that'll be closest to the starter, but I've been so busy at work the last couple of weeks I've had no gumption to get them on yet. They mentioned nothing about having to run a mini starter with them, so hopefully there's enough...
Just checked out the price at Summit, the ceramic coated Flowtech are $357 right now.
Looks like I bought mine just at the right time, I paid $139 and when I looked this morning they have gone up to $174.
Well, got my Summit G9041 headers in the other day along with their universal 2.5" x-pipe kit. For being such cheap units, the headers are amazingly well built with extremely thick flanges at the head as well as the collectors and very good welds. Two of the tubes are also dimpled for steering...
Is shifting early more a symptom of incorrect, or misadjusted linkage? Drove my big block 76 Cordoba for the first time after an engine swap the other night, and due to no registration or insurance yet, stuck to the alleys so speeds were extremely low. Can't recall what speed it was at, but...
Well, here's a crappy picture showing the difference in the placement of the pivot where the kickdown rod goes. I'll take a better pic when it's on the car tonight, but it's easy too see that it's about 1.5 inches further back, what's not east too see is that it's quite a bit taller as well...
Yup, but the other bracket is taller and the pivot is further back on it which I think will fix my issue. I hope lol. I'll post a side by side pic in a bit.
This is the bracket from the 4 bbl engine. The other bracket that I think will work is off of the 2 bbl, I'll take pictures side by side when I get home. The 2 bbl engine used to be a 4 bbl but I believe was changed over when the lean burn was removed. Maybe it's a difference in the years and...
Here's a couple of pictures of what I'm talking about. I was looking at the spare bracket I have and the pivot looks to be dang near 2 inches further back and a hair higher, I think I'll swap them out and see if that works.
76 Cordoba, 400 and the one piece rod. Tried to get the rod hooked up to the bracket last night and it's now hitting the valve cover. The car was a 2 bbl, but did an engine swap recently and the engine that I put in is a 77 4 bbl.
Doesn't make much sense to me either, but this is what the tab on the 400 that came out of my 76 Cordoba looks like. Also see it on a lot of older small block Chevy's. Weird.
