Can someone point me to the instructions as to how to remove the upper windshield molding on a '65 Coronet? It would be much appreciated to have photos of the process, like step by step. I don't want to screw it up.
I run it mainly to help protect the valves because of the lead content. However, I noticed right off the bat using AVGas that the car started easier even though I run non-ethanol 92 gas. I mix 2.5 gals of AVGas per 10 gals of 92 non-ethanol gas. Works for me.
hemidart1 knows his stuff. I run a Whiplash in my 383. Damn nice cam for the street and strip. It is designed for low compression engines, and it works! Rumpy idle and winds quick and fast to 6000 RPM. I run 275/60R15 rear tires. From a stand still, just stomping on the go peddle, it's...
Not for me. I tried 20W50 "once". Too think on cold mornings in my cold garage. Engine made some funny knocking sounds when I went to start it up. After about 15 seconds it would finally go away. I didn't like that. On warmer days it didn't do that on a cold start. Went back to 15W40...
If your car is garaged then I guess it would be OK, if the garage is warm enough. That way when you start it up the oil isn't thicker than snot. There's always the option to use a lighter standard oil with a healthy dose of zinc additive for the winter. Shell Rotella synthetic is thinner with...
I've done a lot of research on this topic, but I'm in now way an expert. Our old style flat tapped cams and lifters need zddp. Our stockish or mild engines are OK with 1000 to 1200 ppm zinc. The more the cam lift with stronger valve springs and other mods, the zinc ppm should go up. Recent...
The 100 stuff. I get 10 gallons at a time. I have ran 50/50 avgas/unleaded on occasion. The engine starts faster and I notice it runs better. This unleaded crap we are forced to run is exactly that, crap.
Is Marvel Mystery Oil® safe to use in today’s “high-tech” cars?
Yes! Marvel Mystery Oil is completely safe in today’s high-tech cars and provide the same benefits as it has since 1923-cleaner engines, upper cylinder lubrication, reduced acid and sludge build up, improved fuel economy, clean and...
Never looked close until the other day. Cold start up, engine at 1700 RPM the oil pressure fluctuates slowly back and forth between about 46 and 50 lbs. Before I always just glanced at the oil gauge, but stared at it this time. May have been doing this forever, just never noticed. Is there...
I installed the Whiplash last November. I too really like it. Took some tuning to get things right. Needed more air/fuel and timing. The ol' 383 gets with it darn hard now. I shift at 6k. FYI, the heads have been worked over. Idle is rather mean sounding.
Before I had the XE262H Comp Cam. That didn't need a whole lot of air/fuel. I was running the brown secondary spring, medium heavy. With the new cam, the brown spring was not cutting it. The engine didn't start coming on until well above 3 grand. Would only turn the tires (275/60/15) over...
So far I've been happy with the Holley. Weather here has been crappy. As soon as the weather gets better for dry roads I'll try the tall yellow secondary spring and post the results.
So far I'm running the purple secondary spring. Secondaries start opening about 1600 RPM's and are fully open by 6000 RPM's. I just got this engine running, so I'll try the tall yellow spring next. That spring will let the secondaries start opening about 1400 RPM's fully opened by 5000 RPM's...
I posted this question on one other Mopar web site. Together with you there have been 360hp, 370hp with 9:1, 400 with 9.5:1 and yours 370 with 10:1. I ran a Dyno program that indicated 392hp with 9.2:1. I guess it's somewhere between 360 and 400. :eusa_think:
Was talking with a Mopar guy about my Coronet's 383 horse power. I'm hoping at least 370? What do you think?
