Got to thinking that I never had to replace the rear shoes on my 95 either but it 'only' has 106k miles but my X drove it a bunch and the front disc brakes would always had a pulsation on the fronts every time she drove it. Hard on the gas and brake at the latest possible moment was her mantra.....
Seems like iirc it got 25 once from Houston to Dallas with a pretty good south wind.....thing is, not all fuel pumps are the same so unless you can fill up at the same place all the time and know that they pump a true gallon, it's hard to know.
I've used the 3/4 to 1/2 adaptor too for a lot of jobs but have always used a good hard hitting 1/2" drive impact. Have to reverse the impact several times in some cases but with enough penetrating oil and enough reverses, they spin on out. I'm just surprised the adaptor has lasted so long with...
I'm guessing I'm not understanding......when the stat is open, isn't the pressure the same in both the engine and rad? I did mention not running one and my temp was higher but that was the only time to run without one.
Have you ever ran an engine without a thermostat? I have and it ran hotter than it did with one. Looks to me that the coolant can flow too fast and the thermostat acts as somewhat of a restriction? Now on my beater Dakota, the thermostat seems to be stuck as the temp never does come up very fast...
