Need some help figuring out what I need for springs. I already know I'm going with ESPO springs. However, I'm not sure what to order.
I want to keep my current ride height, 26" - If needed I could go to 27" (ground to middle arch)
I am a large guy and I'm adding 275 lbs to the driver seat and...
This port you are pointing to on the metering block. I taped that and set it to .61 (51) from stock of .92 (42).
I figured I would just give these a shot so the carb is back on right now.
I jetted back up to 80 so I can have the fuel I need on power. Hopefully these restrictions will raise the...
@68 HEMI GTS @beanhead i finally have my taps done. Now ready to drill out the set screws.
Need to confirm the sizes to start with.
Lower ports on the carb side are .112 stock. Your post earlier said drill to .078.
for the metering block side, stock is .092. Based on how much you...
Are brass mandatory or can I use stainless set screws? I can’t find any brass local, just stainless. I understand that stainless will be harder to drill out.
@68 HEMI GTS I just checked my new proform metering block and it isn’t tapped already for the lower holes. They look like they will be tricky to tap.
Question, if this is what is needed to properly tune a Holley then why doesn’t Holley make these ports tunable?
Update, still no fix. Here is what I have done lately and what I am experiencing.
Purchased a proform metering block with adjustable PVCRs.
Jetted down from 78 to 72 (cruise a/f is good at 72 but is even a tad rich.)
Enlarged the adjustable PVCRs from stock of .070” to .085”.
Zero change...
I was wrong on my advance. Forgot I bumped it to 18 initial and 36 all in. No ping.
I’m at the point where I don’t want to dial down the jets anymore for fear of lean out on acceleration but I’m still low 11 high 10 on cruise rpm.
Question, what effect will enlarging the PCVR provide? I know...
All good info guys! Im learning a ton about carbs. Mainly that I should switch to fuel injection! (Does money still grow on trees?)
Reporting back on changes:
Changes made:
Swapped in the 76 jets (from 72)
Swapped in the 8.5 PV (from 10)
Moved the float level back down to half
Took a drive...
FYI, The 72s are rich because I bumped up the float level. Prior to doing so they were a nice cruise of 12-13.
However, I see your point. You’re logic seems sound since as soon as I get into the main jets I’m seeing af immediately get lean.
So, based on your logic, I need to size my jets for...
What about doing the opposite? Set my jets so that it cruises at the right AF but then drill out my PVCRs to allow for more fuel on acceleration (low vacuum)?
It doesn’t have adjustable air bleeds nor adjustable PVCRs. I am prepared to actually drill out the holes a tad to get more flow in there. Never thought about tapping them.
I just watched a video on the transfer slot. Looks like the only adjustment there is for that is my curb idle screw. From...
Reporting back on the float level change.
Bumped it up to the level in the picture. It is helping with the lean out on acceleration but I can tell that all it is really doing is richening up everything. So now my cruise is rich again. I’ll be cruising at 11af and when I give it accelerator I...
Reporting back on the fuel level increase.
I raised the fuel level about 1/8”. This has made the most positive change so far. It still leans out but not as much, I think. I’m going to go on a longer test drive tomorrow.
Will report back.
Reporting back on the 10.5 PV. Doesn’t really solve the issue. Makes me fater under cruise. I go lean and stay lean on acceleration. If I accelerate then hold then it will fall from 16-17 down to 12ish. But as long as I am accelerating I am lean.
