Hoping the Wing-car community can help with a question: Of the 1935 or so Superbirds assembled, how do you determine what number your car was in the production sequence? I read in Geoff Stunkard's Plymouth Superbird book that Chrysler "reserved" the Vehicle Order Numbers from J97000-J99000 for...
F70-14 Polyglass GT "custom wide tread" from my '70 Superbird that has never been used. The white stripe sidewall was 3/8, and this specific tire remained virtually unchanged all the way through the mid-70's. I have one that is date-coded 1974 and it is identical in appearance.
Respectfully disagree. Steel wheels delivered to Chrysler by the various vendors (motor works & kelsey hayes) were painted black. if the car was coded to get full wheel covers then the wheels remained black. If the car was coded to get bottle cap hubcaps, then the outer (visible) portion of...
Its a real, legit Superbird. An owner just took a few liberties with the color choice when the top was replaced. I think it looks pretty damn cool against the Petty blue paint.
Anyone here attend the AACA Hershey fall meet last week? Just curious what your thoughts are about the AACA (and the meet in general). When I joined the AACA several years ago I was jokingly told that it was an "old mans organization" that didn't care too much for our "modern" muscle car-era...
Cool footage. Love that the producers were so enamored with the jump sequences that they had to replay them several times! But how come the hub caps on the "Bullitt" Charger fell off simply by looking at them but the bottle caps on this Belvedere seemed to be welded on??
For sale:
One (1) Goodyear F70-14 Speedway Wide Tread white stripe tire. Was a spare tire, never used. Concourse condition - as close to NOS as you'll ever find.
Date coded Jan 1969.
Correct for a variety of A & B-body Mopars prior to 1970, after which they switched over to the...
TRUE survivors are few and far between, and after 50+ years of dedicated care and preservation, they become virtually useless for those looking to actually drive their investments. But the term is very popular today, as evidence by the masses jumping on the bandwagon and claiming their car is a...
Any chance you can get a good close up pic of the valve stem area showing the date code and part # ? I'm looking for a 14x6 steel wheel from the MotorWheel vendor - the vendor that put the part number (2944327 in this case) next to the valve stem. TIA !!
A friend at the auction who closely examined this car said it wasn't as nice in person as it appeared on TV. But you want a driver, so it probably would have suited your needs just fine. There are several other U-code Superbirds at this auction that have better time slots (and colors). I'll...
That's a "Speedway Wide tread" not the more common "Custom Wide Tread" used on Mopars. Check the dates, it's probably from the mid '60's. The CWT tires came out around 68-69. These tires ended up on a lot of Ford products. If you don't have any luck selling it here you may want to try...
I'm looking for a Goodyear Polyglas GT F70-14 white wall CWT to finish my Day-1 Superbird.
Must be NOS or VGC, and date code for late '69 is preferred. Other dates will be considered based on specific tire.
Only need 1, but I'll buy 2 if the seller won't split up a pair.
TIA !!!
