I took the photo into paint.. The numbers are straight across the bottom. There is no HP or HP2 on the pad its only numbers looks like 2's but can barely make it out.
Do you have a shroud? Also have you checked your fan clutch for resistance? A free spinning fan clutch is not going to cool. If it has some resistance it should be good to go.

What kind of oil do you use in the engine? Lifters alone might not be the answer. If the lifters are taping id expect a lobe or 2 gone on the cam. Take the intake off and inspect the lifters and pull them...
Find out where the violet colored wire goes "last picture" I bet it goes into the driver side kick panel and into the connector that feeds the tail lights. Its either a bypass wire to bypass something that was not working or they needed to use the brake pedal to trigger something.
Dropping a nut inside the distributor hole. Assuming you are working on a big block. Your best hope is that it is just siting in the lifter valley. Worst case it fell forwards and went into the timing chain cover. Another case it might have dropped all the way into the oil pan. I'd go buy a...
