Does anyone have a picture of the fuel line routing over the axle? 67 coronet rt
I pulled the old one out, but can't seem to get the new one in.
I really need to take pictures before taking stuff apart...
I finally got it working!
The linkage was a mix of parts that i put together 20 years ago, and i found that for some reason it didn't work together this time.
I kept trying different levers and rods without much success, until I switched the throttle bracket.
Now it downshifts and does...
No rain today, so I got it back out for a drive.
The Kickdown lever is set where it just touches the plunger in the valvebody at idle, and travels to the end of the range at wide open throttle.
Still no forced Kickdown and the shifts are not very firm. Doesn't even squeak the tires from 1-2...
I will give it a try on Tuesday or Wednesday and report back.
I will hook the pressure gauge up so it reads throttle pressure.
Maybe we'll get this figured out !
The LowDown On Stock Torqueflite Kick-Down Linkage
I found a link to this article on this site.
It states that at idle, the lever should be right where you start to feel resistance.
That makes me think that I've been wrong on my kickdown adjustment.
Granted the article is referring to a cable...
I found a message from around the time i was doing the rebuild, i ordered the 5400 rpm governor based on advice from someone from a&a.
The shifts are kind of soft, not what I was expecting or hoping for.
Thank you for the reminder!
I will do that next.
And thanks to everyone who has posted ideas and answers!
I sometimes have a problem following directions in a linear path, it's always been a problem for me.
My teachers in school were never impressed.
I think I was wrong on the gov weights, i cannot find the paperwork, but i think that i bought something in the neighborhood of the hemi ones, 5600, 5800, i don't remember.
I went for a test drive with a gauge hooked to the gov port.
40 mph was about 40psi, 50 mph was 50psi, etc.
I mistakenly...
I bought these from AA transmission, i think they are 4800 rpm.
Maybe I don't understand how it works.
I thought that this would not affect normal driving..
Yes, that was probably the proper dirction to go in the order of diagnostics, I went the route that I did because i don't have a gauge set up, and I had a feeling that there was something switched around in the VB.
Now I know I have to get myself set up with pressure gauges.
Thanks
I finally got back to this today, i went through the valvebody and checked things over, everything is clean and looks to be in the right places.
Put back in and did a test drive. Nothing changed, so I put a different VB in (fairly confident it is good)
Still exactly the same.
I guess it's time...
I just dropped the fluid in preparation to remove yhe valvebody, and went to remove the shift lever and throttle lever.
I FORGOT TO TIGHTEN THE THROTTLE LEVER.!!!
Does anyone have a dunce hat that I can borrow?
Now to put back together and test drive.
