Best bet is to sit down and really understand your goals for the build - Street driven only, autocross, or more serious competition? How much do you value comfort - NVH and modern technology - as good as the resto mods can be, the new cars will be quieter and have more creature comforts...

Thanks for all of the good ideas - in the end decided it's easiest to move the motor ahead - pulled the drive train out yesterday and will fab up new mounts this week - hopefully back together next weekend if the work schedule allows...
