    70 RR Rallye cluster removal

Thanks again to everyone for their input. Once I got inside, I found it was simply a broken main spring. The contacts were in the open position and were in pristine condition. So I decided to re-loop the spring and keep the original parts in place. To keep the contacts in good condition, I plan...

    70 RR Rallye cluster removal

SUCCESS! Now to see if I can get it working. This is all new to me. I was never that interested in cars. But things change when your father-in-law passes something like this to you. Grateful for the Mopar and grateful for your assistance.

    70 RR Rallye cluster removal

Well, I'm too far down the road for that. I have pulled the cluster and found that wiring from the tac is securely pinched between two pieces of the steering column support bracket. I was able to disconnect the wires at the back of the tac and removed the three mounting screws. Does the time...

    70 RR Rallye cluster removal

That's what it feels like and looks like, I'm just hesitant to force it for fear of cracking the old plastic.

    70 RR Rallye cluster removal

    Father-in-law's 1970 RR

To change and (hopefully) improve, or to keep it true to the original owner. This debate rages at my house, and apparently here, as well.

    Father-in-law's 1970 RR

    Yessir.
  8. The Son-in-Law

    Father-in-law's 1970 RR

Thanks. That's him, wouldn't be surprised if he still owns those pants!
  9. The Son-in-Law

    Father-in-law's 1970 RR

Not completely unmolested, but mostly original. He changed out the wheels, added the vinyl top, and replaced the Holley carb with a Carter, all in the early 70s. Plus a paint re-spray in 1999. There may be a few other changes that he's failed to remember, but otherwise intact and in great shape.

    Father-in-law's 1970 RR

Hello from SE PA. Acquired my father-in-law's 1970 RR in October and have been lurking here for a while. Appreciate all the knowledge shared back and forth. 383 4-sp hardtop purchased new in 1970 while he was finishing his service with the National Guard. Lucky to find two build sheets, one...
