I have a 68 Plymouth Satellite with a stroker 390 (original 318) that I put a Gearstar 4L65E 4 spd automatic behind it. Everything works great and the car drives perfect on the highway. In order to get the 4L65E in, I had to ‘massage’ the trans tunnel. My problem is that the tail of the 4L65E...
I just took out my new whiskers on one side. I had the glass removed but the vent window in place. I was able to use a flathead screwdriver in my hand inside the door and push up on the tab that hold the whiskers in the door frame. I worked on each one a little until the whole thing popped...
I agree with pnora. It may not fix everything, but it changes every adjustment you make on the position on the glass. I’d loosen up the adjusting bolts/screws…. Install all whiskers/ gaskets and start over with adjusting. Good luck.
Thanks to everyone!!! Here’s my 68 glass. Bottom center hole takes the plastic plug rivot to attach it to the window crank mechanism. Front 2 holes are for the felt piece with the white plastic guides. No ‘other’ hole in my 68 glass. (See below)
Guess I’m ’Special’ just like mom said...
I've rebuilt my doors, but I still have this plastic piece that I can't find in my doors. It's called a Door Window Up Stop Bumper. I've looked through my 68 B Body factory manual, but can't find exactly where it's supposed to mount. It appears to have mounted somewhere with a screw.
My...
Alright.... I think I got it figured out. The gap that I had was from using the Precision gaskets sold by Classic Industries (MB1288). In my 68 Plymouth Satellite, it left a gap.
So I ordered from Detroit Technologies and got the Metro SuperSoft (WR 2308) set which works way better for me...
Ok.... if you search for 'vent window grommet' without picking a particular year/model, it does come up. If you go through the 68 b-body section it doesn't show in the search. I've got 2 on order. Thanks everyone (see below).
Does anyone know where to buy the black nylon/plastic grommet/pieces seen in this picture? I don’t need original and don’t really need to buy the chrome pieces also. Thanks for any help!!
I didn't change the setting tape. I did order a new set of vent window gaskets from Detroit Muscle Tech. I think the vent window was at the right position (not too low), but we'll see when I redo it. I also purchased some newer felt sliding pieces so the large window slides up and down...
The car is a 1968 Plymouth Satellite hardtop. Years ago (when I first bought the car) I bought some door seals, jamb seals, vent window rebuild seals, etc... I replaced the DS and everything fit nicely, except the area pictured below. It's the few inches where the seal dips upwards to allow...
I'm just learning what 'not to do' on the Quick 4. Someday I'd like to get my laptop hooked up to it and 'fine tune' it. Right now....I'm more likely to make it worse. I want to get some new spark plugs, wires, and install an air-fuel ratio kit and get the engine tuned better before I start...
FINALE!!! It's done ???
I took the 68 Satellite out on the road for some more test driving and I was having issues with it shifting at the correct RPMs. I contacted US Shift and spoke with Kevin (multiple times). After a lot of time on the phone, he helped me realize that something was...
As many screw-ups and problems I’ve had with this tranny swap and your only comment is about my method of posting?! Wow…. you Aussies really take your blog posting seriously.
Steering Column to Trans Linkage: Going Another Direction
I considered using a cable-type setup to make the steering column shifter work, but I was concerned that I still wouldn't be able to squeeze all 4 forward gears in. So I gave up and ordered a Lokar Automatic Floor Shift Lever. I...
Steering Column to Trans Linkage: This Should Drop Right In.......Right??
So if you go back to 'post 22' I made a comment about using the Lokar Universal Shift Linkage kit (see below).
But there is a piece of knowledge I was unaware of. In the picture above, you see a GM steering column. If...
THE 'OTHER' STUFF: rear slip yoke and driveshaft.
When I had the engine/tranny in for the 2nd time .... I decided to measure/order the driveshaft because I knew it would take awhile to come. Talked to a friend of mine and he suggested Victory NSS Performance Driveline.
I have the 8 3/4 rear...
THE 'OTHER' STUFF: transmission cooler and dipstick.
During my 'down time' waiting for parts, I installed the trans cooler. GearStar states that you absolutely must install this in front of the radiator and includes it with the 'kit' (no trans cooler lines included). They will put whatever...
