Ooooh how I long for the days of good gas. Back in my high school days (mid 80's) I had a '60 Imperial with a seemingly bullet proof 413 and a '65 Barracuda with a 273 which in my opinion was the best small block for an all around cruiser and I never experienced vapor lock or any other fuel...
Thanks for the replies...also thanks for the pics. I've been leaning on getting the full set-up, just wanted to see what others were running. Yes, the QA1 K does free up alot of space. Looks like the oil filter change will be lot less messy, No more wrapping everything in plastic bags or...
For you guys using these components. I am getting ready to pull the trigger on buying my front end parts...I would like to know the pros and cons of using the full set-up (QA 1 upper, lower control arms and K-member parts) vs. using my factory K-member and adding the QA 1 upper and lower control...
Does the line go under the frame as pictured or go thru the frame hole pointed out in picture. Pictured is the part of the frame that anchor the torsion bars. Thanks. Its been 20+ years that I disassembled this and I cant remember.
Did some test fitting and here are some pics to show the situation. First pic: The flare that holds the rubber boot in place will not pass thru the firewall.
Pic 2: New plate attaches to booster with no issue.
Pic 3: New plate on firewall shows the fit issue.
Pic 4: Old plate clearly does...
Yes, the plate that was recommended for the booster fits together perfect. I even put the factory plate over the firewall opening by itself and some of the firewall sheet metal appears in the plate opening. That's when the question of firewall mods came to mind.
Checking in with others who may have had to modify (CUT) their firewalls for disc brake booster upgrades. I was in the process of installing a booster for my upgrading the front drums to disc. Purchased it from Dr Diff and I also got the firewall plate that goes with it. Tried installing it...
Ah...makes sense. This is the tranny from my '68 Charger...just verified my VIN. The stamping just looked random. Thanks! Never noticed this before until I started wiping all the grime off.
Anyone know what these stampings may be? They are free-hand stamped on the bellhousing and seem to me to be non-factory unlike the ones found on the pan rail.
WOW, I did not realize I was building an Atomic Clock or putting a man on the moon. It's a cam choice, not a TIME MACHINE. Thanks for your input though. I guess I better get busy with my science project...looks like I have a long night of throwing darts at a cam book.
My plan is running 2 Carter 600's but that may change if necessary to even smaller ones. Are you sure about the 2500 being stock stall? I thought 1000-1200 was typical on factory converters. If it is 2500, do I need to entertain the thought of stepping up to 2800 or 3000?
Over-camming is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. I went to one of the cam sites and did the ask the expert...filled out the form with my set-up and their recommendation to me seemed over cammed. The results were .519/.531 int./exh. advert. duration of 294/298, 240/244 @ .050 lift. That...
I'll be running a 727 w/2500 stall to the rear wheels via 3:55 sure-grip, Auburn cone (NO SYNTHETIC FOR CONES) and 28" tall tires. That much I have decided and figured out. I would like to do a dual quad Edel intake w/2 Carters. The fun part now is the cam. I am looking for low to mid-range...
Here's the 440 I'm using for my Charger. This is a 7-2-73 casting with the ID boss stamped with J440 HP and below that is 7 12 2. Not sure what it came out of but the original rods were heavy duty and looked like 6 pack rods. It has 440-6 on the casting but don't know if this may have been...
Mine had the #5 & #6 rods come loose and it destroyed my block to the point where the cam was broke in four pieces. All this happened with the previous owner. At some point in time someone replaced the nylon cam sprocket which had sheared the teeth and they neglected to drop the oil pan and...
