Hello everyone,
I have a 1972 400 HP motor with a cast crank and 346 heads (double springs). I thought about doing a stroker (451 - with a 440 crank, or a 440 source kit, but I do not think I need to rebuild the engine).
I would like decent power - maybe 350 HP and 400 TQ. More the better, but...
Thank you! I did end up purchasing the engine. The cylinder walls look to be in great shape. I am trying to keep it low budget, so I can get it into my car faster.
Hello all,
I have a 1973 Roadrunner that was built on 9/20/72.
It is a 400 4 Barrel/727 car.
The original 400 is missing.

The car has a 3.23 suregrip with a 489 case. I am happy with the gear ratio. 3.23...
I have some 17 inch Year One Magnums that I plan on using. I am not sure exactly what tire size I will be using.
It is a staggered setup with the rear wheels being 1" wider. Maybe I will go with slightly larger ones in the rear.
727 automatic transmission. I am not sure about the stall...
Sorry for the confusion. I would like a street-only motor with good street manners and solid power.
I am no expert, so I am still learning about building an engine. This post and forum have been very helpful.
I like the idea of 1HP per cubic inch. I think that is reasonable.
I have read...
