joesclassiccarradio.com; He's good, but its not going to be quick.
I replaced the dash speaker in mine with a Cerwin Vega equivalent, bolted right up. Rewired all of it and added some Custom Auto Sound under seat speakers as well.
I'd pull the fluid from the differentials and X-fer case. Look for metal shavings etc. Sounds like a bearing issue there IMO. I'd bet its in one of the differentials. If diff fluid looks good check out the transfer case.
Yep, after installing the new boot it became clear. Folds down into the well when the top is up. Boot install went pretty smooth, I did use soapy water (said to in instructions); I had to install the snaps one by one, (use proper snap pliers if you do this, NOT the tool that comes with the new...
Honestly I'd advise a rebuild on yours. Any used speedo you get is likely going to need work. Going to be hard to find one that has been rebuilt or works good and is for sale on the cheap.
Red Line Gauge Works out of California, does great work. He rebuilt mine.
The cluster I pictured is my...
It's been years since it ran. Likely would need cleaning and new grease like them all.
I'll see if I can find an extra speedo cable and run it with a drill.
That's the vacuum advance port for the distributor.
That carburetor doesn't have a full vacuum port, as it would be opposite the vac advance port on the other side of the big port in the middle, which is generally for PCV valve.
Edelbrock carb will generally have both. Also most of them have a...
NP; the supply is part of the vacuum harness, it should be a solid black line. The rest to the heater box will all have stripes. It all plugs in to the manifold on back of the switch.
Are you talking the vacuum supply from the engine? That connects to the back of the dash switch, into the little vacuum manifold that holds all the lines together coming from the heater box. Run a line from a full time vacuum port on the carburetor base or the vacuum hose tree on the intake...
What fan, clutch, and radiator do you have?
Needs to be at least a 4 row radiator, big block fan (7 blade IIRC), and viscous clutch. Should be 1-2 inches max clearance between rad and fan also; with a good fan shroud.
I have that setup with a 2 row aluminum radiator (s/a 4 row copper in flow...
Just need a good vacuum supply from the engine. If going off the carb, make sure its the full time vacuum port. If going off a manifold vacuum tree, no sweat. If you don't have the vacuum reservoir under the battery they added at the factory later, (70 ish?) it's a good idea. Especially if you...
There is a vacuum harness that goes to all of the actuators, then up to the back of the mode switch on the dash.
As far as the supply, depending on your setup; I ran a line for mine off of the carburetor full time vacuum port. Routed it along the intake and then to the vacuum reservoir under...
Hi all;
Got the system all assembled today and charged.
Rebuilt RV 2 compressor and all new/restored components in the rest of the system.
I have 65-70* coming out of the vents, it is 94* out today and humid as can be so that seems like a reasonable temp drop, not snowing inside the car but...
I have the RPM heads; she runs 195* - 210* going down the road on the hottest of days.
I was driving her today she was right around 205* cruising. Its ~93* outside right now.
After a myriad of phone calls and emails, I finally got my parts back.
They look really great. The work was done nicely. The customer service, they need to work on it. Don't tell me 4-6 weeks and take 8 months.
Now I can finally get my A/C going!
