My 2 cents...something to be careful of, if you don't know if you had vent lines (which don't necessarily run up to the front but vent into the truck) is whether you have a vented fuel cap or not. No vented cap and no vented tank and the vacuum created by the fuel pump will start to collapse the...
Slink sorry for the late response...no solder in the socket itself but a few spots around the joint of the socket and housing...will try to get a pic...
I agree with cheeseburgerhead and hemirunner...my left turn signal on my 70 Bee would work intermittently i.e. sometimes it would be on when lights were on, sometimes not; sometimes would flash fo turn signal, sometimes would not...swapped bulb, no change. So pulled it, cleaned the socket and...
Agreed, Wix/Napa all the way...platinum is high line for synth oil...silver is an economical us made quality product ...gold is the easy choice.
I also have a Mopar performance (not regular mopar) filter that I’m going to try although it’s pricey relative to a good nap and gold.
They look great for sure...what size are they? I finally painted the 15"x 7" JJ steelies Ihave ro replace the OE 14s and am wondering what size rubber to mount...thoughts?
I am thinking just going F70 (or G70???)-15 bias look radial...the OE was F70-14 back in the day...
Hey Spauldo, good to hear from you...a while ago you sold me some 70 Bee hood pieces. Like many out here, do as you please. My opinion is that unloess you are totally resto-modding it and making it a trans-am car (with other ground/aero pieces) and the wing will actually "do" something (maybe)...
Like many others, just seeing this...the outpouring of care and support from this community is overwhelming...use it to fortify yourself and family...and I am piling on the prayers and good wishes as wll.
Thought I'd catch you up on my project. This is what I did.
Using a Dremel cut off wheel, I made a cut into the bezel; then spread the bezel enough that it cleared the peen.
I thought I'd be able to file the peen down enough to force on the new bezel - no luck.
So I started to file the peened...
Like these cars in general, I am sure Hurst didn’t expect them to be around 50 years later and be serviced/restored.
P.s. also thought of drilling into the handle and tap for screws...need a drill press though...probably not enough material.
Thanks. After trawling the net I only found one similar post...and they came up with JB Weld and silicone too. Am going to cut the old one off and make the peg as tight a fit as possible and JB it. Will post the results. Thanks again.
Hi all, happy Labor Day. Finally getting around to restore my 70 b body pistol grip. Any novel approaches to removing and installing the the new upper bezel holder? Seems the original is peened on. I welcome your expertise. Thanks in advance!!!
The gears are available at most of the resto suppliers...honestly never checked the everyday parts stores. Probably pays to get new seals too while you're at it...fluid in the speedo cable will be tell-tale. Also consider a complete drain and fill (I went with Redline) just as PurpleBeeper...
Thanks all for all of your input. I agree, pro redo is too pricey. A new one may be in order but I like to OE look...turns out it may not be the MC..but in the future seems like a small hone and rebuild kit make the most sense. Thanks again...have a great summer cruise season.
66 coronets have a special place in my heart...I grew up in a gold 66 4 dr with a 6 and 3 in the tree...my dad bought it new...I learned to drive on it...he had until he passed...I cried like a baby when I had to get rid of it when I lost storage back in the early 90s...I see some here and...
Great thread...I am having the same intermittent horn blow when turning my 70 bee. The horn pad itself is a little sloppy despite the mounting bolt being tight. Anyone have a pic or can point to any that shows the fix described above? The horn blowing was so annoying that I disconnected the...
