35-40 hrs is ridiculous ! 8-10 is reasonable, I'm saying saying 6-8 in a perfect world .. Lets say every bolt, clip , fastener, screw comes out perfectly, nothing strips nothing breaks .., but lets be real.. your car is a '72 , chances of that are slim to none. I just did a '69 GTO , it took me...
any competent shop would give an estimate... but honestly I'd say 6-8 hours barring any and all issues ( rusted bolts, broken bolts things that want to break rather than come apart peacefully, etc etc )
there is one on ebay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-PLYMOUTH-ROADRUNNER-/320825229405?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4ab2ac805d#v4-44 how bad do you want one ? how much are you looking to spend ? is numbers matching important to you ? do you want turn key or a project ? all these...
It's tweaked, put it on a perfectly ( or close to ) flat floor and drop a tape from the pinch weld to the floor at all 4 corners, it will give you a close idea of how far you're out ...
OK, so someone is snowing someone ... The owner of the restoration shop I work for has a very good working relationship with the head honcho at AMD . So much so that his one of one 70 Baldwin Motion GSX is on display at AMD. Point being, until a few years ago 70-72 Buick A Bodies had very little...
I am looking for a "wreck" of a 70 rr hood.. basically all I need is the raised section in the middle. Can be a fresh air hood or not. I will be using the center section for another hood ( yes a mopar ). I find it difficult to justify tearing up a good 70 hood or a re-pop for this endeavor, now...
That's kinda funny you seem so sure, AMD didn't make any Buick stuff either, that is until my boss brought them some NOS qtrs and such , now they do .. my point is, never say never ...
SEM Landau Black is a very good color ... http://semproducts.com/Catalog.asp?prod=190 .. pretty durable, if applied correctly this stuff will last a lifetime ..
You've given them the chance to fix it, they've basically told you its beyond their capability ... next move is legal action ( expensive, long and drawn out) or driving the car as is ( which would perturb me to no end ) or pull the car as is from the shop and find a shop that has the capability...
Just finished a 71 Buick GSX, full nut and bolt restoration.. reproduction rims, the centers are slightly undersized for the hubs .. so even when you think they are tightened down, they aren't fully seated .. makes a scary sound .. kinda like the back half of the car is going to fall off ...
sounds crazy , but check the hub/center of wheel for fitment, sometimes after market/repop wheels don't seat properly and create an issue , even when the lugs are tightened , ask me how I know
Couldn't agree more, now add to your formula above 5-6 restorations somewhere in between show and concourse level.. taking place in the same shop .. its chaos on its best day. I know in our shop it is , some jobs do get rushed and that's when mistakes happen . Regardless , if you're not...
