Factory original Chrysler ammeter-based Charging System and additional loading. Load placement matters!

If one wanted to replace a deteriorated amp gauge insulator, what type of material would you recommend and where would you purchase? I've found some glass-mat pcb material on ebay as well as thermal fiberboard, either can be cut to size. Your thoughts appreciated.

Factory original Chrysler ammeter-based Charging System and additional loading. Load placement matters!

Thx 72RoadrunnerGTX for taking the time to assemble all of this information, it's refreshing to "see" what we normally can't. If I may, to sum it all up: Bypass (properly) the offending Packard and Molex connectors and you will greatly minimize the possibility of an adverse electrical event.

SOLD 1970 Dodge Super Bee V code Post

Regarding your trans, looks like a 1970 Hamtramck car from the number - as near as I could make out anyway. I checked the sequence number in the Super Bee Registry and it wasn't there. I would contact Barry Washington at the Hamtramck Registry and see if he can help. Nice guy, and a huge...

    Selling a car on Ebay.....

All good advice....also, pictures are the KEY to selling a car. Pictures should be clear (wipe the lens), in focus, well centered, & have indirect lighting. Try to shoot in mornings or at sunset, and avoid direct sunlight. Cloudy days bring out the details best because the light is even. Avoid...

    15 volts running & idling. What's wrong?

You successfully measured voltage drop. Simply put, voltage drop is the measurement of how much voltage is actually being used up in a given circuit. It is probably the most useful (and least understood) test in the automotive electrical diagnostic world. Measurements close to zero is normal for...

ammeter showing discharge but cranks and runs

Charging voltage with no load should be about 13.5 to 14.8 volts. Sounds like you have a draw. If it was working before, then you need to re-trace your steps. Good luck!

    A few general questions

I was answering the OP's question in a round about way by stating that bench was only option for 'bees in 68, meaning that buckets were available in 69...could of worded it better I suppose...

    A few general questions

Pretty sure that the only way to get a Super Bee in 68 was with a bench seat. Buckets were available in the R/T.

    OEM Distributor Rebuild Question

If your not going for O.E. judging, Rock Auto sells reman single point distributors ranging from about 70 to 100 bucks. I've used the A1 Cardone units before with no issues. They carry 3 different brands for your application. Just pay the core charge (if there is one) so you can hang on to your...

Curious about this myself....Also the small panel that separates the bumpers (just below the bee emblem on the hood) is sometimes chrome and sometimes body color?

    Frustrating drum brakes problems

Agree with all that's been said...Is the noise coming from the front? If so, double check the wheel bearing adjustment. Good luck with it!

    4-speed conversion 67 Coronet

Back in the day I had to have a bushing custom made at my machine shop. Since then I became aware of a special bushing from Ma MOPAR. I believe the part number is 5300918AB. I have not personally used/installed one, but have heard it takes the headache out of the 4 speed conversion. You may want...

    front end alignment

There is nothing wrong with modern digital equipment. In fact, it's leaps and bounds better than what was available even a decade ago - much less the 60's & 70's. The issue is that most alignments nowadays only involve toe adjustment, and many "new" techs don't often deal with the other angles...

actual difference between a 70 sport satellite and a road runner

Late to this thread, but trim-wise, a Sport Satellite is very close to a GTX. Thus, it would be more cost-effective & easier to clone this car to a GTX than a Road Runner. This is for a couple reasons: 1st, you would have to remove all the exterior trim & fill all the holes in the body, since...

If a period street machine was what the owner was going for, then I guess it's ok....just put "correct" diameter 15" mags & tires on it.

    engine and vin verifying

Basically the point is - for 68 - that the VIN tag, engine, & trans will have the last 6 of the VIN. Whereas the data tag, core support, & trunk drip rail will have the order number along with plant & year code. So without the original MSO (manufacturer's statement of origin) or the original...
