Good morning Don, you are correct, it take a little cranking to finally get the gas to flow up and out of the fuel pump and up to the carbs. I have the hemi running now, thanks for your response.
No I haven't measured the push rod yet because I haven't removed it. Again I put everything together yesterday and wasn't getting any fuel to the carbs. I plan on removing the pump and push and I will measure the pushrod fir it's length. And I will probably buy from Hughes engines as well...
I installed the fuel pump yesterday and had two issues: First the outlet port did not line up with fuel line to the carbs, see photos. But I cranked the engine anyway to see if I had fuel from the tank and I did. When I removed the fuel pump, fuel came out of the lower bowl on the inlet side and...
I have a question on the installtion of the fuel pump and push rod. I removed my fuel pump last night to re-build because I had no pressure coming from the fuel pump. I have never changed a fuel pump in a 426 hemi so my question is, what is the best way to install the fuel pump so the pushrod...
Yesterday I installed the vent tube grommet. The grommet I purchased from Classic Industries was exactly the same as the OEM Chrysler grommet I purchased from a fellow Forum member. I measured the tank opening and carefully pryed the lips of the opening just a fraction to get the vent grommet...
Yesterday I installed my gas tank with the new hoses. The vent hose clamp was a pain to crimp and I have the correct plier to crimp the clamp. The problem was the handles on the plier are too long and I was unable to open up the pliers wide enough to a get a grip on the clamp to crimp. I tried...
Thanks for the insight. I will install the tank first and then the tailpipe exhaust. I also received the new grommet yesterday, so I will install this weekend. I painted the tank with a stainless paint and I had planned to put undercoating on the bottom side, just like it came originally. When...
Interesting post, I was installing my gas tank today in my 67 Charger and the new vent tube grommet I bought did not fit, it was too large and I couldn't install. I did install the new elbow that fits onto the tube from the gas filler neck and I fortunately have the correct pliers to crimp the...
That is a nice website, didn't know about it. My filter is 18" x 3" round, fits over 2 x4 barrel carbs. The one they spec for my year 426 is 12.8" x 2.12"? Thank you.
I am ready to istall the engine in the car this Saturday, finished dressing the engine last week and installed flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and bellhousing.
This is my first Hemi Charger restoration and yes I am trying to get everything correct. Thanks for the offer on the fuel pump but now that I just got the fuel lines finally installed I would like to get it back in the car and see it running. Send me a PM with a price you want for your fuel pump...
I installed my fuel lines after I increased the bend on the line to fit the "T" in the prependicular position, so my fuel line from the fuel pump would line up. I also shortened the rubber connector hose on the line to the front carb. It is all secure and completed. See photos.
