Gen2 Hemi experts. Review my refresh plan?

Now BAM has started to use the DLC axle and no bushing at all. Pretty cool.

    440/535” Hemi head conversion build

I’m not sure.. I’m thinking some people are seeing them. Look up "Cedar Machine Service" on Facebook and look under videos. Lots there.

    440/535” Hemi head conversion build

Thanks! There are more videos on this build on the FB page as well. I’m nearing completion as I no longer do assembly here. (Very rare). The shop I’m doing it for will take it from here. Will be an easy build, I’ve mocked up and clearanced everything.

    Lifter recommendation, help

Very happy with Crower hyd lifters myself. I have a couple lifter leakdown testers. I’ve done some testing on some different brands. Crower has been excellent. I will say, they do like .060” preload. They seem to bleed to that point and then the rate of bleed is much longer. I put...

    440/535” Hemi head conversion build

Time for me to retire. I’m actually moving everything to an addition on my workshop building at the lake house this spring. Putting a Rheem 5 ton/130BTU HVAC on that area

Gen2 Hemi experts. Review my refresh plan?

Have you been correcting your camshaft tunnel and lifter bores on your builds? I’m going to say that most often the interface between the cam and lifter being incorrect is responsible for failure more than any other reason. There is so much at play when they are not correct. Roller...

    440/535” Hemi head conversion build

Cam tunnel index correction. Using a .010” over bearing set. Some of the MP Hemi blocks are so bad I do a 55mm cam core, as the OEM only come in .010” over.

    440/535” Hemi head conversion build

440, bored to 4.35”, stroked to 4.5” Stage V Hemi Head conversion. 535” and getting a dual throttle body EFI. Video of the finished block. There are many more videos on similar subjects, and this block as well. Just sharing, no longer taking in work. I have my analogy backwards at the end...

The Official Rear Main Seal replacement thread

IMO the best way to address the seal problem is to convert it to a BBC real main. More choices, better seal, blueprint the location and the knurl gets ground off the crankshaft. It’s the only way I prep these blocks. I will have a rear seal carrier soon that is machined for the Chevy seal...

Gen2 Hemi experts. Review my refresh plan?

Crate engines are notoriously horrible. One well know supplier doesn’t bother to index or locate cylinders on the blocks, which is an absolute MUST on Mopar performance hemi bocks. They don’t correct the line bore either. I’d have the cam tunnel blueprinted and the lifter bores located and...

    Anyone use teflon guide seals?

Yes, ironclad is used to describe them too. They meter the same from day one to 100,000 miles if the material is high quality. The flourolastomer seems to stay pliable forever. I've never seen one get hard/brittle.

    Anyone use teflon guide seals?

Now days all I use is the blue flourolastomer seal with the metal case. The Teflon seals are too restrictive to begin with, but in short time, "wear out" and take a set to too loose of a size. Whenever I pull down a set of heads with Teflon, the valve drops right through with little or no...

    balance or dont balance????

From what I've seen after balancing several thousand cranks, (even two today) is that whatever the change in piston weight seems to be how far out the crankshaft is. 99% of the time, when I'm doing a re-balance for lighter pistons, I can almost point at the exact spot on the counterweights...

    Repairing cracked Hemi head.

I drill each end all the way through, tap and plug, then interlock them all the way in to the center. No welding, just threaded taper plugs. - - - Updated - - - I used Irontite plugs on this one. I also use Sealace plugs. Look into them too. They are very unique in that the thread pitch...

    Repairing cracked Hemi head.

Here Is a few pictures of a head I just repaired. This is a "cold repair". The threaded, tapered crack repair plugs are interlocked and sealed. The crack is 100% repaired and good as new...probably stronger. The initial crack is punched from start to finish for clarity. This method has been...

    Head Cleaning Question?

Before you leave them at a shop anywhere, ask what kind of valve seat runout gauge they have, and what kind of valve guide bore gauge they use. If they have neither, go elsewhere. Ask also, what their valve face to stem maximum runout and seat runout tolerance is. If they can't tell you it's...
