When ambient temps get high, so will the engine temp, that's a fact of life. The radiator using 85 degree air is a far cry from it using 100+ degree air, as far as what you'll see on the temp gauge.
Another thing that never gets mentioned, is road surface temps and heat radiation.
On a 100...
Nick-
The drawback of that shorty clutch is, it makes installation a little more of a hassle but they do work well.
The important thing is exactly how much room do you have between the pulley and the radiator?
Radiator thickness and where in the mounts the engine actually got bolted down all...
...yet you still bothered responding...
Most people under the age of 70 probably got the reference...and I would love to see you spell the word ORIGINAL correctly, just once (it only has one 'o' btw)....that would warm my heart:)
Greg/Dwayne....
This has been a great thread. I will likely never put A/C in my '68 Ply-mouth even though it gets hot as hades down here BUT this is a stellar reference if I (or anyone else) ever need to do it to another car.
Thanks guys:thumbsup:
Going by fuzzy memory here, but I could swear on those brass adapters that come already installed, the passenger side port had 1/8" npt female so I used a 1/8" to flare adapter which you can see sticking out in the picture, to catch the steel line coming from the transmission. The driver side...
Make sure you have the timing and fuel mixtures on point.
I don't have a part suggestion but being a performance engine I would go for as much fan/cfm as I could fit in there and remember to upgrade the electrical system accordingly.
Thanks for the comments guys. And just to reiterate, these are both well-functioning radiators...the CC might have a few more installation quirks but they've never given me any real trouble. I don't think you go wrong either way.
"Which radiator" questions always seem to come up. So, just for informational purposes I thought I would share a recent comparison between these two brands.
***I am not intending to 'bash' or 'plug' either brand, I have no affiliation with either***
Just trying to provide some (hopefully)...
I see you've discovered the fact that thermostat temp makes no difference. While I'm not a Cold Case fan, (full disclosure=I have one in my car) they do work well. I use the 70-up MP shroud and it bolted right on, with a factory 7-blade fan and Flow-Kooler pump. 10 to 1 505", 4000 stall, 600+hp...
We just went through this on my bud's '35 truck project; he didn't like the A/C kit's included hoses/routing either so he bought some hose for mock-up, then had a local shop make new hoses in the exact lengths he wanted...came out nice and wasn't too bad price-wise.
