The recessed mixture screws on the Carter AVS was not one of Carter's better ideas...done to stop fiddling & defeat emissions.
With engine wear over time/miles, engine vacuum can change, requiring tweaking of the mixture screws......when you can get at them!

now I have 2 rust free vehicles with a ton of interchangeable parts, and a fresh engine and a pick up bed........... with a spiffy...
So I am putting together this relatively stock 1974 440 8-1 cast pistons 060 over and putting in a Summit 6400 cam. I have a degree wheel on it now and it is advanced 2 degrees, stock timing set with one bolt cam gear.
So option one leave it alone thinking a little more cylinder pressure might...
well, I have a dilemma......... I bought it, and it might be too nice; I think I have to fix it and drive it, 1 owner, mostly garaged, zero rust on the body......I have options, I'll assess things a bit more when I get it home........ starts right up, zero noises, no check engine light, good...
