Thats cool. My shop teacher at Eastern Voc Tech was Mr Biederman and he was good. I even learnt how to do valve jobs in high school as he taught us how to grind the seats and the valve face. He taught me alot on carbs and all electrical systems. It was like any other class in one way which was...
I was in the 1974 Plymouth Trouble Shooting contest and we had 318 Darts I believe. My memory is not as good as it used to be but it was 318 cars either Darts or Scamps. Had the Carter BBD 1-1/4 carb. We were the first to get our car running and ended up getting third when the combined the...
Here is my take on them. First Flowmasters slowed my sons car down almost 2 tenths when all capped up. I prefer Dyno-Max and if you just want a good sounding not to crazy loud car use the Dyno-Max Turbo's. But as for me I wanted the most performance you can get out of a muffler as I race my...
I was curious if you race your car or do hard launches with sticky tires ? I am wondering how strong that torque strap is if you use stock mounts with it and race the car ? It may be strong but it just don't look super strong to me but I could be wrong ? Ron
I have used these type of large fuses. I can bolt it to this stud and bolt it to an eyelet terminal on the wire. Been using this one for years as its a 70 amp. Ron
The only time an evap system will effect the eng is when its purging. On the early ones where the fuel tank and carb bowl vent lines go into the breather on the valve cover as soon as the eng starts it pulls any stored gas vapors in the crankcase into the eng through the PCV system. So it could...
Congrats as that's a very nice write up and the car looks great !! I was lucky enough to get my 63 in the April 2018 issue of Mopar Muscle. Its nice to see your car in ink. Well done. Ron
Your system looks real good. I use 2" TTI headers and their 3" exh with Dyno-Max Ultra-Flow mufflers all the way to the back of the car. I like my exh out the rear so I don't get no drone like I have seen when dumped at the rear. I also used the X-pipe this time. I race it just as you see it...
If the 68 Cuda was a late build that makes more sense that it could have gotten the 69 eng that was the 330 hp rated 383 in the Cuda and Dart. I always read it did not get the 335 hp rating as the Roadrunner and SuperBee did (as it was the same 383 in 69) was because of the A-body more...
Well Mopar does not list a 70 Roadrunner with a 440 single four carb and that's because as was said it was standard on the GTX and it would make no sense to offer it in a RR. That's why when they built the Roadrunner they did not offer any 440 in it in 1968 because they wanted the 440/4 eng opt...
Dennis my reply was not meant to be offensive to anyone as I simply mean its just simple ethnics that the fuel tank has to be vented in one way or another no matter how crappy our gas is and believe me I know about crap pump gas as I built my 63 to be a pump gas car. My point was the tank has...
Its really pretty simple. The tank has to be vented either by a vent line of a vented cap and yes a vented cap lets air in and out just like an open vent line does. Around 1972 they started using non vented caps and charcoal canisters which would store the fuel vapors. If the 69 Runner calls...
I have tested many coils over the years for the primary and secondary ohms. Many times they read normal and yet the coil was still bad and put out a weak spark. Ron
I agree that you dont want to go much higher with shackles. As you can see mine are only about 1/2"to 3/4" more then stock. I would not even like much more because I think to long of shackles dont look good either. Mine did not not need much as it only raised the car about 1/2" Ron
I agree if you can get the right spring for the look/rake you like thats great. I thought my 63 may sit to high when I put the 3400 lb SS springs on it but fact was it sat level and I like a tiny rake with the back a tad higher so that why I used the Mr gasket shackles as I wish it had been...
You can see in this pic you dont see any shackles hanging in the back as I like the clean look and dont like to see extra shackle lenth hanging down. Ron
