You definetly have a bad vacuum gauge or its way of calibration. As many said there is no way even a stock 440 can pull 30" of Vacuum. Most idle around 16" to 19" in all stock form. The vacuum may hit close to 22 to 24 on a hard decel where eng vacuum will be the highest. As said see if you...
I would say no the rad cap is not the cause of it creeping up to 230. Remember the cap just pressurizes the cooling system to raise the coolants boiling point of the coolant. It just means if the cap is working and its say a 12 lb cap it would just raise the coolants boiling point 36 degrees...
I have had a glass hood and fiberglass Max Wedge scoop on my 63 since about 2008. Never has warped at all. The scoop is not a thin glass as its a nice solid glass scoop. Also the aluminum are cool but they will dent easy. Good luck , Ron
Just be careful as if you loosen the trans throttle pressure to much it will start slipping some between shifts and can hurt the trans. Just be sure on normal driving it does not flare any between shifts. Ron
What year is the vehicle ? And is it a 727 or the 4-speed (46RH , 46RE , 47RE) ? Just curious since on the 4-speed version 727 the power also goes through the overdrive unit. But it sure sounds like a bit to much throttle pressure so hopefully adjusting the kickdown may help. Mopar also had...
Mine is a 440/493 stroker in my 3700 pound 63 without me in it. Its 10.6 comp has good .045 quench and a custom grind flat tappet to keep cyl pressure pump gas friendly. And it has the basic Indy SEZ heads. Its run a best of 10.70's @ 125 but I run 4.30 gears and a 30" tall tire. And I race it...
When I went with them which I have been with them since 1997 I had to send 4 pics of the car. One side and the front and the other side and the rear of the car. Then the interior and eng and I guess they also used that. I have my 63 insured for 25k through them. Ron
I used the TTI 2" headers and their 3" exh system with an X-pipe for my 63 Sport Fury. I ordered the system with no mufflers and went and bought a set of Dyno-Max Ultra-Flows. I installed the system in my driveway and everything fit fine. Course even if I had to trim or cut a pipe a bit here...
Actually its simple. Dont drive like an idiot on the street. I dont street race my 63 or do stupid things with it on the street. I just like to cruise around nice and easy on the street. I go to the track when I want to drive it like a mad man. And I get to see just how fast it is as thats...
Yes as you are correct as thats what I meant. Thanks for correcting me on that. What can I say I will be 65 soon and am getting older and dumber I guess. :wetting: Thanks , Ron
Funny thing as I remember my auto shop teacher in high school teaching us to take two lifters and put them bottom to bottom and make sure they rock since the bottom of the lifter has to be concave outward some in order for the lifters to rotate on the angled cam lobe. And he taught me that in...
Myself since its so easy to lift the intake on a bigblock wedge Mopar I always lift the intake and coat the cam lobes and lifter bottoms and then put the intake back on and start the eng. I like to do that since many engines may sit for a while after put all together and I like to be sure the...
I bracket raced a 4-speed 340 Dart back around 1977 until I rolled it in 1982 and I loved racing the 4-speed. Even back then about 75% of the bracket cars were auto's. Now one thing I know is in the 60's and 70's the torque converters were not as good as they are today. My buddy raced a 340...
Yep they both are 1 to 1 in high gear. Its just the 4 speed can gear the cars for better pick-up since they have an extra gear to use in getting to the 4th gear 1 to 1 ratio. So in theory the 4-speed should be faster but remember the torque converter will multiply torque and the converters of...
