Vintage Air installation in a 1968 Satellite

I need to follow these posts. I did the Vintage Air on the '69 Coronet, but don't care for how the kit goes under the fender, and thought about that square 4-port bulkhead, but worried about the hose routing under the dash. I was also thinking if a fiberglass air inlet could be made to connect...

AC shuts off in traffic (alternator?)

I have bought several Be Cool fans, and they were Spal fans with hardware. Listed cost was about the same, but Be Cool had a rebate at the time. Dakota digital had a fancy programable fan controller with blue tooth if you need to control 2 fans at different temps. I used the older...

Electric fan to supplement stock fan?

Cooling a big block stroker engine is a challenge. My Coronet (505" stroker) was marginal before adding A/C, and after the A/C install, I had to rethink the cooling system. The original setup would cool with the A/C off, and even with the A/C on when outside temps were under about 85 degrees...

AC shuts off in traffic (alternator?)

Make sure the wiring is upto the task. The A/C condenser needs air flow to work. Hopefully having full power to the fans will fix the problem. You didn't mention if this is a one wire or a external regulated alternator? Also, do you know the pulley ratio? A underdrive (small) crank pulley...

Electric fan to supplement stock fan?

I have had better results with the factory style mechanical fans than the aftermarket flex fans. If the trans cooler lines are plumbed from the trans front outlet port to the radiator first, then into the external cooler and back the the rear of the transmission, then the radiator is doing most...

    Radiator Recommendations For The Bee

Call GlenRay and talk to them. If the outlet needs to be moved they can likely do that. If you have a radiator with the correct upper and lower tanks, Glenray can repair the tanks, and put them on a new Max Cooling core. The re-core radiator was quite a bit less expensive than the Licensed...

    R134A issues and alternatives

Didn't know they are banning R134a now too. Just replaced my 21 year old home central A/C heating system a month ago. Old system was the old R22, new system uses the R410a. I still have about 8 cans of R134a, and 2 cans of R12 in the garage. Also have a cheap ($500) Amazon refrigerant...

Vintage air on a 69 satellite wagon

I did the Vintage Air Sere-fit kit on the '69 Coronet R/T (440 non-A/C car.) It cools, but I don't care for the semi-hidden lines that run under the fender. I would rather have the firewall bulkhead and lines run inside the engine compartment. No problem with the replacement electronic slider...

    Let’s talk some about radiators

sounds OK to me. Let us know how it works out.

    Looking for advice

I rebuilt the A/C box in the '71 Charger. Mostly just needed new foam seals. I just used some generic foam and and cut my own seals. My Vacuum pods and vacuum lines under the dash were fine (30 years ago). Needed new lines to and from the vaccum canister under the battery tray, and I had to...

    3000 CFM is that sufficient?

Do you have 3-3/4" clearance between the radiator and waterpump? Just sold an old Mopar viscous fan package and it is about 3" in depth. The issues I have had are the depth of the cooling fans. The higher cfm fans have fairly large motors.

    71 Superbee radiator protection

Do you think the short stainless fender pieces are 500 model specific?

    71 Superbee radiator protection

Do you have more info on that car? I haven't seen the lower chrome trim before, but my Charger 500 came with the hood/fender trim like shown and I am mission one side of the fender trim. Most others with the front fender trim wraps around the side (I think SE package?)

Factory AC - Vintage Air vs Rebuild

I put the Vintage Air setup into the '69 Coronet convertible because it was a non-A/C car. If you have a factory A/C car, I would keep the original A/C box and controls, but upgrade the under hood parts for the newer stuff. FWIW, here is my thoughts on the Vintage Air system. I like the...

    160 thermostat why

Keeping the engine a little cooler helps prevent vapor lock, detonation and fuel boiling in the carb when using todays junk fuel

    Electric fan/shroud combos

I changed from a Champion 4-Core with Contour fans to a Griffin (Dual 1.25" core) and two Spal 13" fans mounted to radiator, no shroud. I haven't tested the new setup yet, but the two fans cover most of the radiator without a shroud, so going to try it without the shroud so there is no airflow...

    Radiator value ... help please

I have no idea about value, but might check with GlenRay as they buy some radiators for the upper and lower tanks.

    Shout Out... Outstanding Glen Ray!!

I have only got one radiator from Glen-Ray, and the radiator and service exceeded expectations. I need to give then a call and see if they will re-core the Jensen Interceptor radiator.

    Interesting read.

Their radiators look nice. Alaska Mike (mocajava) has one in his '69 Coronet. No cooling issues that I know of, but no A/C on the car yet?

    Interesting read.

I posted about having a Champion 4 core radiator which is really thick. They list the core at 2.75", which is the 3-core thickness. The 4-core "tank" width of 3.2" is closer to the core width. Anyhow, it cooled Ok until I put the A/C condenser in front of it. I think that blocked air flow at...
