I don't know, I'd have to see it on the ground but it sure looks mean just the way it is. Forgot to comment on your dash, man is that beautiful! I'm not a fan of blue but it goes so well with the white and the instrument upgrade looks right at home in there. Looks like a show winner in the makings.
I'm a hater of chrome but also think body color bumpers don't quite look right unless they're tucked in and the gaps tightened up like a modern car.. that's just me.
No insult meant to the purist crowd, builds like this are just a lot of fun and the end product is a better performing car. Like you said, to each their own.
I actually enjoy rebuilding the 727's, they don't really require anything special in the line of tools plus the removable valve body really opens them up. Another cool thing about them is you can take a rubber tipped blow gun to the ports before installing the valve body and test the function of...
My first suspicion would be that it was improperly prepped. You can sand the tar out of everything and easily overlook a small spot? I've gotten in the habit of hitting everything twice, once with sandpaper then a second time with a scuff pad.
When I bought mine someone had taken an air chisel and cut it from one end to the other then folded the metal down in.. I assume for a boom box? I ended up replacing the whole thing, it's was horrible!
That sounds like a nice approach for addressing the issue.
