I’ve bought a lot of stuff of Classic in the last 14 months. There have been some back orders and a couple miscues (one or two my fault) but I’ve not had any big issues with resolving them. I just call first thing in the morning and usually get someone pretty quick.

Wow, that’s kind of surprising. Most restorers use lacquer paint for detail. Yes, I would be worried about using acetone. Could be some sort of self-etching paint or primer. You may want to return it and wait for re-stock in that case.

Are you sure what you think are chips in the chrome edge are not black paint from the paintwork? It looks to me like paint may have bled under the masking. If so, a little thinner in a cloth wrapped around a pop cycle stick might clean it up. But I don’t have any experience with the repros so...
