@66plysat, Here is my thread on what I had to do on my 64 Fury. - With that, I do NOT recommend the Inline Tube grommet that I used on the 64 to go in a 66/67 style tank. I tried one on my 67 Coronet, and after a week it started leaking badly. The way the 66/67 tanks are made, the filler grommet...
I had this problem on my 64 Fury. Finally, after careful measuring and comparing with the old grommet, I determined that the new grommet I bought off of Ebay was made too thick. Apparently some of these "no name" Ebay parts are just made wrong. I got a different grommet, and was able to assemble...
When installing the seal retainer ring, it is pretty hard to get it to seat all the way. It has to be forced over the little humps to actually lock it in place. I used to use a flat drift punch and a hammer to lock them in. But my last tank swap, I purchased the installation tool. Still had to...
Here is the thread about the filler hoses.
66-67 B Body fuel fill hose size
Also, the lock rings being too thin used to be a problem, but they seem to have corrected it. I measured the thickness of the new ring VS my original and a couple of old used ones from cars that I parted out. They were...
I recently put one of these tanks in my 67 Coronet. From ebay seller TomsClassic. Second stainless steel tank I have bought from them, and no problems. Tanks seem to be good quality. I also posted on FBBO about the source I found for the filler and vent hoses that saved me several bucks...
Hey guys, I'm finally taking time to update on my problem with the new tank on my 64 Fury sucking in badly.
My original thread on this is here> New gas tank sucked in. "Vented" cap? Hmmm... help!
Anyway, after a bunch of research and looking, it seems like just about everybody is selling this...
Seriously, I bought one of these to use on my Mopars, and it works pretty well instead of the old punch and chisel method.
Lock Ring Removal Tool Mopar, Ford, Mercury, Lincoln
Just use a propane torch to heat the lock ring first. No problem with sparking after that.....
 :poke:
Oh ****! I'm JUST KIDDING! Don't Do this! It's a joke. (My attorney advised me to add the disclaimer)
I found this article to be interesting. It is for Corvairs, but the same principals should apply to our cars. And the cap pictured that was dismantled is the same style "Motorad" that is giving me a problem.
Clark's C90 Locking Gas Caps Are Not Vented
I found this old thread about the same problem over at Jalopy Journal. Looks like the same issue happens on other old cars. I think I will perform surgery on this new cap just like the guy there did.
Technical - Vented fuel cap issues
I put a new stainless tank in my 64 Fury. I noticed back in the summer, when it was hot and I pulled the gas cap off, I got a pressure release. Today, it has been cold. I pulled the cap off, and heard the tank pop out like a tin can and got a big suck inward. I am hoping the top of the tank...
I wonder if this air cleaner may have been used in earlier cars with 2x4 carbs. Maybe something like the Chrysler 300 hemi cars of the mid 1950s? Back when they were doing the top end speed runs on the beaches and salt flats? Very interesting air cleaner, indeed...
