just like everything else on these cars, everyone has a different experience. I ran into a problem with the sector shaft adjustment ( the one you have pictured ) leaking. I had to pull that part of box apart and replace a few seals . Doing so really allows you to understand what is going on...
I'm seeing 23.625 extension and 14.xxas the constant dimensions.
Actually calverts rear shocks are listed as
22. Standard
23 lowered
These are for 68 charger BTW
My goal next year is to try and dial in my rear suspension. I have been doing a lot of reading, and the use of C body shocks keep coming up as a common replacement ,when using SS leaf springs or calvert mono leafs.
My understanding is they are used for the extra extension. When I look up a set...
If I can save myself $700 and still be happy with the product, then that seems like a.pretty good move to me .
A business is always going to try and " sell" their product . That's why I came here looking for honest opinions from real world experience.
$400 US = $555 CAN + 13% ontario tax = $627 . Don't forget probably another $100 in shipping on that. Looking around $730 . I mean maybe not a lot to you but to me that's a fair chunk of change .
This is directly from their site
Calvert Split Mono Leafsprings are designed to work with CalTracs to maintain arch. While street driving does not put undue stress on the springs, racing with Calvert springs without a traction device installed may result in bent or de-arched springs.
Simply...
I'm going to be replacing my original worn out rear leaf springs this winter . I thought I had made my mind on getting a set of Calvert split mono leafs. I do like to race the car a few times each summer. I thought the weight savings and consistency of the mono leaf design would be a great pick...
I did check out that thread. There a few others as well.
Agreed, that is one thing I also read was it will lower the ride height . Now that could be altered with some fab work . Basically adding making a bracket for the slider to mount to. The bracket would set the height and could also be...
I've been reading up on rear leaf spring sliders . Thinking about building a set for my car. But as I go threw various threads about them. Some of them mention about changing the front hanger as well? Does the front hanger need to be changed if I were to stick with a factory XHD spring, or...
Say what ?
Maybe I miss understanding what you wrote , but as a spring sags or " flattens" . The ends of the springs do not get closer together .
And a worn spring does not raise the car
So if I under stand this correctly ... longer wheel base was compensated by front hanger being longer still use the same spring? Or was the over all length between the front and rear mounting point different ?
Well I didn't have anything to loose so I rolled out the welder and gave it shot. I think I may have dodged a bullit . Wait for the new seal to get her and see what happens!
My power steering box started leaking last year from around the sector shaft adjusting screw/lock nut. This year I went and got an o-ring to try and put under the nut to try and solve the problem.
As i was tightening the nut down I got the dreaded " loose turn" feeling I thought I had stripped...
I have leak that has gotten progressively worse over the last month it's coming from the sector shaft adjustment . Is there much involved in removing the locking ring and and seals around just this area ?
just make sure you back is in good shape and you ate your wheaties !! ... not sure of the exact weight but feel like 45 lbs when your hanging over your fender and your trying to pull it up ! Still easier there pulling headers, Torsion, and starter IMO
I had to do it on my 68 charger. With headers I actually pulled it threw the top.
You have pull the column back. I disconnected drivers motor mount and jacked the motor up slightly . Pulled the battery, tray and pump. Disconnected steering linkage and pulled it up.
