Mine is an original D21 car so I like the idea of keeping the basic 833 and getting the 5th gear. No point in cutting up an original 4 speed car when I can get the 5th gear as a drop in. Don't mind waiting a few years......I'm in no hurry and always prefer American Made.
I had the same problem on my 70 Charger with a 440. I found out that someone had previously installed the wrong oil pan. I don't recall for sure, but I think I purchased and installed the "402" oil pan and that fixed the problem; no more clearance issues.

I don't have a choke on my 6 pack. It starts a little hard when it starts to get down into the 30s or 40s. I would prefer to have a choke for easier cold starts, but just havn't gotten around to it.
