for my part the point is moot - the holley is on the 440 and the car is up for sale.
for academia sake keep going =)
and for that same cause - yes if the motor is a 440 with more than 8:1 compression using any sort of aftermarket or higher performance intake, headers etc - then a 600 is...
no, the holley was on the 318 - the Thermoquad came from the 440 - and since it's vacuum activated there's a was a lot of overuse of it IMHO - it's NEVER too big supposedly - however that doesn't mean it's the right carb for every occasion. I have a 440 that is rated at less than a 318's HP was...
just had it towed... been a bad day. I'm tired... all I need to do is attach the linkage plate and lower radiator hose and I'm ready to rock and roll... but I'm pooped =(
found the answer - since searching led to B&M and I have found that my shifter is a B&M - with the tranny installed in the car, pushing the shift lever all the way to the rear is PARK. All the way forward is 1st. Also the shift cable bracket is universal from 904 to 727 - so I pulled it off...
lol - I'm a moron but not that bad =) I meant the shifter on the tranny itself - the little arm that is moved by the cable - when I put the shifter (as in the actual shifter on the floor) in Park - the cable is fully extended - which would move the shift arm on the tranny all the way back - is...
I think this car is a bit o'nightmare!
Recently found the following (after I have the 440/727 tossed in) -
I have a floor shifter (cable activated - was used on 318/904)
I have a column shifter (lever removed - was not being used)
I have a clutch (slammed into the floor and wired down -...
yeah, I might be pushing 300HP if I'm lucky right now. Seriously this is not a high HP motor. the 600 should be fine for the long drive regardless - then I'll sell it when I go EFI and we're all happy =)
good advice - I swapped carbs (course now I need an adapter plate to go from the stock intake to the holley but that's easy) - and I'm sure that it is the smarter way to go. Just wanted the experts advice - thanks all!
hmm... good question - the tires are some 15" 50 series - nothing horridly tall actually. The gearing I'll check tonight - it was a stock 360 car so I'm better it's better than 2.7X gears. Doubtful it's 3.91 - and also, I'm getting ready to do 1300 miles on this car in two weeks - so which is...
Just an opinion game mostly - but the RV 440 came with a smogger 77 TQ - it's big sure, but I'm betting it's metered horridly.
the 318 I just pulled outta the car has a nice new electric choke 80457-2 Holley which shows part 4160 - 600CFM
I thinks 600CFM is a bit small.
and I think the...
yeah, it's all in there now - schumaker mounts make life easier - but that was still a bitch. had to ding the **** outta the headers multiple times. I got the headers to make life a little easier until I toss the turbos on - guess easier is relative =)
got a new question but I'll post in in...
Okay all - got a 78 440 - freshly rebuilt to mostly stock spec - I obviously have to change the oil pan to put it in my 74 Charger - 7qt pan and pick up and a windage tray - that's fine... but while the motor is out, and the pan is off - this is probably the BEST time to do a High Volume pump...
