    NXCoupe's Shop Build

It looks very functional - nice job! I like that you put the lights directly over the counters. If the lights are behind your head, you get a shadow on your stuff as you work on it - ask me how I know  If only my garage had half the space you have!

    My little "dealership"

    I approve!!!

    NXCoupe's Shop Build

Big progress! I'll be jealous when you are done with this shop - it's sooooo much bigger than my little tight workshop! (But then again, I can see it is starting to fill up!)

    NXCoupe's Shop Build

Your garage is great, and I'd love to have something like it. Having said that, I have slowly made my own limited garage pretty decent for the space that I have. Like you, I have been chipping away at it for a while. Keep at it and it will be great when you are done!

Finally time to pull the trigger . . . starting on the New (much anticipated) SHOP - Build

It's really starting to come together now and look like the finished product. Great work! Of course, you still haven't told us what the "turret" at the back is all about... :poke:

Finally time to pull the trigger . . . starting on the New (much anticipated) SHOP - Build

I think you've got problems. The inspector doesn't look too happy about that middle section... Seriously: Amazing work and progress on this. Your garage will be amazing when it's done!

Finally time to pull the trigger . . . starting on the New (much anticipated) SHOP - Build

Oh wow, you are in to one! I wish I had the ability to pop down and help, but unfortunately my wife and I are heading on vacation in a couple of days. Just put one foot in front of the other and chip away at the work list (pun intended). Best of luck and keep your chin up!

Please School me on A/C Tools

So just an update on where I am with this: Obviously, working on A/C is not super easy. There is a lot to learn about humidity, temperature, recovery, etc. You guys have given me a great start, but I want to walk before I run. I looked at the Testo 550 gauge set and would love to have it, but I...

Please School me on A/C Tools

Thanks for the tips. I did have a 73 Road Runner that I just sold that did have the RV2 (? twin Mopar style compressor). It was converted to R134a and it worked just fine. But, the units I have now will all be Sanden type compressors with the exception of my buddy's car which is a 64 Impala SS...

Please School me on A/C Tools

First of all, I greatly appreciate all the information and support. Thank you all for your answers and help! In the case of my 70 Road Runner, the system has not leaked down completely; the compressor still comes on, but the air is not as cold. My plan for that car is NOT to open...

Please School me on A/C Tools

Thanks. My A/C has been rock solid for 8 years. However, I recently had to mess with the A/C compressor when I replaced my 383 engine with my stroker 400. I thought one of the A/C compressor connectors "moved" just a little bit, so I wonder if me messing with it loosened that connection. My...

Please School me on A/C Tools

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm just a stubborn guy who has had issues finding a good shop that I would even trust to get near my car - dealing with A/C stuff makes it even harder. So, I'll try to learn and do it myself. I'm sure I'll make mistakes, but with the FBBO brain trust...

Please School me on A/C Tools

So does this mean that if a system is low on refrigerant (like my 70 is now), that I need to pull out what remains in order to refill it with the proper weight of refrigerant? No worries - all in fun...

Thank you - this makes great sense.

Please School me on A/C Tools

This is a great add - thanks Paul. Yeah, I'm not trying to become the best outfitted A/C guy around, but like you, simply to be able to service my systems and make them work reliably. Do you mind expanding on your statement: Thanks, Hawk

Please School me on A/C Tools

First of all, thank you all so far for the great information. Of course, as we learn, we have more questions. :drinks: So I guess this brings up a (newbie) question: I thought A/C systems were typically filled to a set pressure rather than a weight of refrigerant? Or is it both? Also, I...

Please School me on A/C Tools

I need to work on the A/C systems for at least two different cars. I am tired of (a) leaving my car with unknown shops and (b) paying big dollars for A/C work. So I want to get the tools I need so I can work on A/C repairs myself. Previously, I have just shoved cans of R134a into the system with...
