I have a 275-60-15 drag radial (28.5 inch tall) on my 66. I get a little rubbing on the passenger side when making a left turn from a stop if the road angles to the right. Never had a issue at the drag strip with them.

FYI, Just installed MT ET Street Radial 275-60-15 DOT slicks mounted on American Torq-Thrust II 15-8 with 4.5 backspace on my 66 Coronet. Good 1/2 to 3/4 inch of space between the inner quarter panel lip and tire, lots of space between inner wheel well and tire. No wheel well trim on my car...
Thanks for all the replies, I went with the MT Sportsman 26x7.5x15 4 ply tire. I could have gone with the 28 inch tall tall instead of the 26 inch but they fit great and drive well. All good.
I did a search but did not come up with anything on this subject. I'm looking for a recommendation on DOT approved 15 inch front tire for use on my 4 inch wide front wheels. This would be similar to a drag front runner size tire. Maybe a 155R15 size or something like that. Thanks
