I don't have mine all the way on but have test fit (removed, installed, removed) them a couple of times on my 66. I did have to bend part of the gas tank (the flange where the two halves of the tank are put together) stuck out to much and where easily bent towards the tank with a mallet.
The where used up till 1966. In 1967 they where changed out for the LA style of small block.
Running and in decent shape they run around 350. If it has a 4 bbl intake on it, the intake along can fetch a decent amount of cash.
He is a really nice guy and knows these first gens as well as anyone but he isn't on the forums. The other person for knowledge and some parts is Bryan (A383Wing) and he is on here. He knows these first gens as well as Jim but doesn't seem to have the parts stash Jim has.
My 96 Dodge diesel and my moms Chrysler 300 (1999) both have braided stainless steel lines. I think I am going to do some measuring and go that route. Check out Summit or Jegs for the Earls brake lines. They come in many lengths and are about 15 bucks each.
Pictures speak 000 words if you have them.
Here are pictures of my replacment tank. Notice the fill hole and the tube above it. This tube is the vent tube. The only other hole is for the sending unit.
