Perfect, thank you. The old Direct Connection literature wanted a lot of negative pinion angle. As you said, for racing, sure. I'm looking to get around 2-3 degrees negative, even as much as 5 degrees I think I'm fine for the street. I may play with the trans mount at some point as well. It...
Hello, I have a 74 Barracuda (yeah, I know - E-body) with an 8-3/4 and Mopar SS springs. The car has what looks like the Mopar front hangers with two bolt locations, and the springs are in the lower hole. I am getting a driveline vibration above 3,000 rpm/50-55 mph (the car has 3.91s). Checked...
Yes they do sell one with the stock 440 intake ports. Occasionally they come up for sale used but they sell fast. Yes, it's more for show than anything but it's still a dual quad cross ram and I've been told they run pretty decent on a typical big block. You should be able to find a pair of...
There are two sizes of mini starters, a mini and a mini-mini. The larger mini fits the big block. I asked for one for a 1990 d-150 with a 318, not sure which year is the change over. Remove the lug adapter, split the molded end on the positive cable, and angle the leads away from the block...
And today’s purple shaft is not yesterday’s purple shaft - they changed the grinds a few years ago. AND, they’re not even purple anymore.
Im guessing the old specs must be out there and you could always get a custom grind to match.
I don't think there can possibly be enough people returning used lifters to account for all of the wiped cams. But if there are truly only two manufacturers of lifters out there in the world, and one of them is not properly machining the lifter face, that would do it.
I would lean more towards improper machining of the lifter face than a huge rash of returned lifters being placed back on the shelf. He said there are only two manufacturers left, anyone know who they are?
Well, that's what I hope to bear out here. Although we have one happy Comp Cam customer above. Or is it Komp Kam Kustomer? Maybe the problem is limited to specific Comp grinds or price points.
There's a thread over in Engine, Trans & Driveline about new wiping out lobes/lifters on new cams during break-in. I'd like to get an idea of how big of an issue this is, and see if there is this is more prevalent with some brands of cams over others.
If you have installed a new cam within...
I’m just going to go back to steelies. My last set was a NOS pair of blue anodized Direct Connection covers, should have pulled them before I sold the car.
No, they were for a big block and they leaked at the gasket. The engine had a pair of late 452s and the mating surfaces were crappy - uneven and thin in spots. Even with the thick gaskets they would leak, just a drop or two but enough to smell the oil burning off and drive me crazy.
It wasn’t...
The grommets never fit that great anyway. I bought a pair of the cast covers twenty years ago and all they did was leak, eventually sold them and went back to stamped covers.
I bought a 74 Barracuda last fall that has the cast covers on it. I am tempted to keep them, but I really don’t feel...
