The last diesel shop I worked at was a lucas dealer and I would recommend their oil and additive. The owner had an older 7.3 and serviced it with lucas and never had an injector or high pressure oil pump changed in almost 30 years. Unheard-of to me at the time. So yes I like Lucas products.
How far does the slip yolk go into the tailhousing? What is the engine combo too? I had a similar issue with a cast crank 440 before also. the weights on the converter were thin and should have been thicker. I got it close but ended up using a motor I built for a GTX that I had but ended up...
The cam I ran with my 72 400 back in 78 or so was the 268 duration cam by Comp cams. It was a hydraulic type. When I changed the intake to a wiand 4 barrel with a 780 vacuum secondary carb it really woke it up. Even though I have a 440 now, I think that engine/ cam combo IMOP worked really...
Looks sweet!! I've always liked that year Bee, My cousin had a gold one when I was a teen. His 2 brothers each had mopars too. a 68 charger and a 67 dart and my uncle drove a 70 charger. They are the reason Mopar runs thru my veins for sure. Good luck and enjoy!!!
The clutches in the front drum are probably toast. Did you lose third and reverse? That's the front drum that the band applies around. The drum with the shaft is the forward drum. You will need to pry them apart with 2 large screw drivers. If you get them separated some you might get a...
You won't be able to turn the cam gear very easily because it has valve spring tension. It will turn it just won't spin freely. The only reason to drop the pan would be to get the nylon pieces out and check the pick up tube for chunks of nylon also. JMO
I've never seen an output shaft break on a 727 but the input shaft, the one on the forward clutch drum I have but only on a hard launch, not just cruising normally. Most likely a lack of fluid issue. Just to clarify my first post.
Do you mean it does nothing in RD12. Usually you might you lose forward or reverse but not both. What exactly were you doing when it quit moving? To lose both either the pump gears broke or the input shaft broke, I can't think of anything else that would cause both forward and reverse to...
Keep it, it looks clean and a like a sleeper. You can always change the drive train but a solid car is a good platform to start with. A 4 door Coronet was my first car with a poly 318 which I drove my sophomore and junior years. I worked at at red carpet car wash and saved up enough...
