Check to see if you have a water pump for racing, 440 source used to send them out without telling you and the fins were shaved down to redue flow at idle.

Does it matter which size hose mates up to the water pump housing. I have a 73 RR with a mopar hi po pump and it has two opening for the fitting at different locations - see photo. Does the 5/8" hose go inboard of the pump or does the 1/2" hose.

I bought a new alum radiator and mopar performance water pump and housing and understand from some other threads that there is a way to plumb them in.
I ave a 73 RR big block without air and it has a 1/2 " hose & 5/8" hose going to the heater core. I also want to have a water temp gauge...

I have aluminum heads on my 1973 RR 440 and decided to buy a aluminum radiator from champion for it. They stated I should use ethylene glycol anti freeze and distilled water for aluminum radiators.
I looked at the auto parts store and they all have other ingredients added besides the ethylene...
I took the heater box out of my 1973 roadrunner without ac and noticed the heater box rod support was missing.
Does anyone know where i can get one or someone who has one they are willing to part with.

Has anyone used the Champion type radiator with the twin fans - see attachment. And have you good things to say about it. The Be Cool unit is pricey.

Thanks to everyone for helping me solve my cooling system problem.
The solution was to get a mopar performance 8 blade water pump which did the trick.
The previous one installed was a 440 source unit which look cut back for race applications - wrong application...

I will take a picture of mine tonight and post it for you - the bracket does not seem correct. I do not have that problem.

72 satellite 440, funny you should say that I noticed the water pump design did not look right so I looked up the Mopar performance water pump from Jegs and it looks different - 8 blades in a more aggressive design to accomaodate flow. So I ordered it and will try this first along with getting...
So far I have confirmed that the thermostat is good, the water pump is removed and looks solid from 440 source and pretty new. The radiator drains good when i pour liquid in the top and the hoses are off. Still with no thermostat at idle there seems to be no movement until I raise the RPM to...
