Where those 2 hoses go thru the firewall is where the ac evaporator Inlet & outlet piping should be sticking out of. This tells me that either the evaporator is not in the heater/ac box or those 2 pipes have been cut off, which means a new evap. coil would have to be put in and the h/ac box...

I've rebuilt my ac/heater box on '70 charger. can't take any pictures now because it's installed and all buttoned up. If your box is the same their is a great thread on this site with many photos that may show that spring. Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying, that is the hose that goes directly to port 6. It had another sleeve over the plastic connector you see in the picture and was connected to nipple on the intake manifold. My main question is what is that " bleed wire " in the fsm and what is it's function.

You can run your car without having the a/c working, if that's your question. If the ac/heater box is installed and all other functions are working you would still have the fan and the heater if you needed it.

When you remove the unit you also lose the heating unit and have no defrost option. This could be a big factor in cooler and colder weather. I've had mine removed for several years and I'm in the process of getting it all cleaned up and put back together.
