Help Me Understand What Might Be Going on Here

OK, my bad. My only experience is with a '70 charger and that's how they are plumbed. The heater hoses are plumbed to that bracket where the single hose is attached. Edit: Went out and checked my car AND I'm wrong about everything I said above. Just forget everything I said and good luck with...

Help Me Understand What Might Be Going on Here

Where those 2 hoses go thru the firewall is where the ac evaporator Inlet & outlet piping should be sticking out of. This tells me that either the evaporator is not in the heater/ac box or those 2 pipes have been cut off, which means a new evap. coil would have to be put in and the h/ac box...

A couple of questions for the A/C Gurus

Thanks again Demonic. Your explanation makes sense. This car sat in a garage for 15 years before I bought it and have no idea when the a/c last worked properly. The a/c charge was "0" when I first started to take everything apart. I have searched thru the text of the fsm several times and can...

A couple of questions for the A/C Gurus

Thanks for replying, that is the hose that goes directly to port 6. It had another sleeve over the plastic connector you see in the picture and was connected to nipple on the intake manifold. My main question is what is that " bleed wire " in the fsm and what is it's function.

A couple of questions for the A/C Gurus

Brief history, This is about a 1970 charger I have for 5 1/2 years. It came with factory a/c and has all the pieces. Over the last 1 1/2 years I completely rebuilt the heater/ac box using the great write-up that was available on this site. I have the whole unit installed, however, I don't have...

    AC/heater box swaps

You can run your car without having the a/c working, if that's your question. If the ac/heater box is installed and all other functions are working you would still have the fan and the heater if you needed it.

    Heater box gaskets and ducts...

Just went thru this in the last year restoring ac/heater box. tried repairing ripped material several ways. I thought I had it fixed until I tried mounting it. That 90 deg. turn was way too much strain and the material just ripped away from the square section. I searched all over for replacement...

Tempature Control Slide Adjustment - '69 Charger w/AC

Hey Brian, I'm in the process right now of putting my entire ac/heat system back into the car after restoring it all. I just installed the control assy. 2 days ago and adjusted the cable. You said the temp slide is all the way towards the rear but is it as far back as the other slides. If not...

1970 Charger ac/heater push button control switch

You said you have fixed a few of these in the past. I pulled mine apart in early Dec. just to inspect it, never having done this before. Over the last year and a half I've been redoing the entire ac/heater system that I took out of the car 5 years ago. When I opened the control switch the wafers...

1970 Charger ac/heater push button control switch

Hey Vfilms, thanks for replying. I was beginning to think that nobody liked me. lol. I don't know if you have ever opened one of those switch casing but what you find in there is completely unexpected. If you haven't, but need to, contact me before you do. I'll save you a lot hassle.

1970 Charger ac/heater push button control switch

I'm towards the end of restoring the ac/heater system. Just wrapping up the control switch and had to replace to wafers inside the assy. It's been a very long time since I used the controls on a properly working unit. After assembling the unit it seems that there is only about 3/16" to a 1/4"...

    Removing factory AC components

When you remove the unit you also lose the heating unit and have no defrost option. This could be a big factor in cooler and colder weather. I've had mine removed for several years and I'm in the process of getting it all cleaned up and put back together.

    1970 charger ac/heater control switches

Thanks 1Wild R/T for the info. Does the flat side go into switch assy. first? Only 1 of them has a small tab on the flat side, what is its function? Each piece (except one) ends with a thin protrusion and a wider protrusion at the other end. Should they be stacked on top of each other that way...
