Help converting factory A/C to R134

When I converted my '84 Dodge pickup to 134 I took the easy way out and simply used the fittings and necessary small parts that could be easily sourced. It worked, but not great. Later I replaced everything from the firewall out, including the compressor and condenser, with 134 intended...

Overheats on the freeway but not when cruising around town?

If the radiator doesn't have enough cooling capacity the car can overheat because the water doesn't stay in the radiator long enough to cool it and the thermostat stays open.

    Results with NO thermostat

Here's something to consider; if running with a thermostat doesn't achieve the expected result, wouldn't that indicate that either the thermostat is defective or something else is wrong in the cooling system?

    Thinnest fan options

I believe this is the thinnest one there is. But I don't think it's much thinner, if any than the Jag part. https://www.haydenauto.com/upload/HaydenAuto/Documents/Hayden_Low%20Profile%20Fan%20Clutch%20Flyer.pdf

Cooling issues - and a weird question

I'm thinking the best scenario for a clutch fan in this particular setup would be to get the clutch no closer than .75" from the radiator and letting the fan be 1.5" away from the radiator. Anything closer risks damage to the radiator and anything further away diminishes the effectiveness of the...

Cooling issues - and a weird question

With the engine running at 2000 rpms or so you should be able to put a small piece of newspaper or tissue in front of the radiator and the fan should pull it to the radiator.

Cooling issues - and a weird question

The factory mechanical fan doesn't push, it pulls. That is unless it's installed backwards......

    Fan selection

If the fan is close enough motor mount flex can allow the fan to hit the radiator on hard braking.

    Fan Clutch Identity

This fan clutch has been hanging on the wall in my garage for a while. I bought it at a flea market years ago. At that time the seller told be it was correct for 64-65 hemi cars. It does measure slightly less than 2 3/4" total height as required for the 62-65 B Bodies. It's stamped "FC-10"...
