Yes, I did not put it back in after flow testing. I was too busy today to take it out, but it was running well last night. I need to lead out the mixture a tad too
I think I will give that a try Don. If it doesn't work than I am going to have to find a way to get the mechanical pump rod replaced. Either get the plug out or tear the motor down to get cam out. Not many choices left.
oops, The pump is rated at 7PSI max. 97GPH. Still the flow rate is low, approx an ounce per second (30 sec to pump 32 oz). I guess it is time to look for a stronger pump that is of a size I can mount closer to fuel tank
I cannot run the mechanical pump, it needs a push rod and I have not been able to remove the pipe plug. The electric pump is the only pump I have available at this time. Tank was completely flushed last year when I had it out. It has new sending unit assembly. I only have 5 inches of rubber fuel...
Tank is very clean. I had it out last year and redid all fuel and vapor lines. It also got all new sending unit assembly. Tank is full with 90 octane non ethanol. There is a new fuel filter (in-line) between regulator and carb.
The Basics: 440HP, auto xmsn, Carter carb, electric fuel pump 115gph, 14psi (no mechanical pump), Mr. Gasket fuel pressure regulator.
The problem: Starts and runs at idle just fine for however long you let it run. Driving on the other hand has issues. First, when accelerating it stumbles...
First the basics;
1971 Dodge 440Magnum HP. Automatic xmsn, Carter AVS #4968S carb. 2951-653 Choke assy.
The issue: It does not appear that there is enough room under the carb castings for it (the choke assy) to fit. Is there supposed to be a carb spacer ? If so how tall ? I have the louvers and...
UPDATE:
It badly needs a choke ! I ran a short wire to the choke lever and pulled it around the fuel inlet line. Two pumps of the pedal and she started right up. The choke pull off opened the plate just after starting and I just let it run. I eventually took the wire off. Now I can go ahead and...
