    66 VIN help

Thanks everyone, again, for the education. That VIN code list went into the trash. This is a pic of the motor going in, this past fall. I'm still working on wiring since there wasn't anything to start with. She looks rough but it's solid, just in primer right now.

    66 VIN help

Sorry. I miss spoke, the 5th digit "E" in my VIN was the one in question. I attached a pic of the paper I was using, and it says the E in the 5th position = special order. I don't have the fender tag for my car, so this is all I got to go with, just trying to learn a little about the cars...

    66 VIN help

Thanks for the education on the 7th digit in the VIN. Curious about the 6th digit being "special order", does that mean the 318 wasn't normally available in the coronet 500, but someone really wanted it?

    66 VIN help

Question for the VIN guru's regarding my car, 1966 Coronet. As best as I can tell from the VIN, WP23E65****** (W) Dodge 117"/118", (P) Premium, (23) 2 Dr Hardtop, (E) 6 - Special Order, (6) 1966, (5) I have no clue, then a 6 digit assy number. 2 Questions: Does anyone know what "6 - Special...

Is it better to install the trunk lid spring with the hinges up?

Wish I had one of those when I did mine, going to fab that tool up before I install bushings in the hinges. That's sweet!

    Mean Green the Time Machine

Got it. I'm running the same gear ratio. I went with an FTI converter, 3600 stall. I'm sure your right about the 12 sec, just a matter of finding it, but that's half the fun. Give me a heads up the next time you head down to Mid Mi Motorplex, I'll try to make a run over and watch.

    Mean Green the Time Machine

Question: My 66 coronet build is similar to yours, what is the stall on your converter, and gear ratio in the diff?

Looking forward to hearing how they work for you, might have to go that route with my 66 coronet. I have 10" slicks right now, but they might end up being a little too tight.

1966 Belvedere II stock car tribute build

Cool idea! Looking forward to watching the build and seeing the final product. I grew up watching those races and never made the jump to the newer stuff with all the same chassis, same engines, same profile just different stickers. It just wasn't stock-car racing to me anymore.

66 Coronet with fresh 512 finally finished

That is super sweet! I'm putting a 66 coronet 500 together and was wondering what the low hemi scoop would look like on that hood, that is wicked!! And I'll be finding one for my car, that's for sure.

    Trunk torsion springs

Thanks for the info, that's about what I was thinking would be a good starting point for my 66 coronet trunk lid. Looks like the thumb took a good shot there, the kind that makes you speak a different language...

    Trunk torsion springs

What weight rating (for the gas struts) did you use? I either have to find a set of torsion springs or go with gas struts, and from what I've heard installing the torsion springs can be a hazardous job.
