For what its worth...after packing the joint with good grease I pre bent the tabs then used 2 zips tie crisscrossed to pull it into place then cut the zip ties off. Its not going anywhere in my life.
I used zip ties to hold it ....I should be able to tap them down. I kinda like the bending the tabs first then "slipping" it over and keep it kinda tight idea...
Im doing mine now...I used QA1 upper control arms with the bushing they give you, the lowers are Pro Forge and they seem ok , as of now I just need to pick a shock. I had all poly bushings and the uppers squeaked after a few years and the lowers lasted 10 or so years before they gave up...
For people in the Detroit area the son of :Harry's steering gear" works out of his barn. Takes a few weeks but I paid like 200 for the firm feel 1 set up. It's not back in the car yet but a few people I know have zero problems with his work.
Harry was the go to guy in Mt clemens back in the day.
So I got a set of lowers with the sway bar mount . I noticed the pivot points are not the same. The 1st set have a "collar" so to speak on the bushing end where as the 2nd set does not. Also on the one with out the collar I can fit a .031 shim at the pivot point where I have the pointer at...
In the process of rebuild now....I have 2 sets of lca and both pass side are about the same. Mabe I'm over thinking the whole thing.
The 1 set has the sway bar tabs and thats the ones I'm working on now.
Is there a way to get rid of some play/slop at the point in the arm and t bar pivot? 1 side is fine the other is worse.
I have a rattle and that may be it. Looks like if I cut the bumper mount squeeze it together and re weld it , may help front to back but not up and down.
Any input?
Inline tube makes nice kits...I have seen there kit on other sites for more money. They are in Michigan. I have used fuel and brake lines on a 97 gmc truck...perfect fit.
1 of mine are on the small side where it goes through the k member. I haven't removed it yet to see where the problem is and I guess it could be the k member hole. Hmmm
Sold to holley....yikes. we can never win. I ordered lowers and all tie rod ends from summit, the uppers are new in the qa1 arms I bought weeks ago. The proforged lower control arm bushings are backorder till 11/21. Still on the hunt for them now.
Car has been Parked 10 years...looking...
