Plenty of threads on here about 8.25s holding up fine unless you plan to race it regularly. I've got one in my car, with 3:56 gears. A little revvy on the highway but great on the street.
I traded a '71 383 Charger for a '71 340 Duster back in the day. The Duster was a screaming monster, with nothing done to the 340 except a valve cover change.
I'm happy with my crate Marshall 408. The old 360 that was in the car started spewing white smoke shortly after I got it in '08, and I had the choice of rebuilding or dropping in a ready-to-roll motor. It's no fun having a new ride that's sitting in a shop all summer getting the horses groomed...
See the chart here for visual reference on the size.

Or do you mean gearing?
No argument here, Rusty. I didn't take it as a slap at the 8 1/4, just that if you already explained there's no 8 1/4 involved here, then this thread done served out its useful life.
So it would be a moot point for me to mention that my 360 stroker, 400HP, 3:55 gears, and 8 1/4 rear have given me no complaints?
Okay, won't mention it then.
I've got a Holley 750, not an Eddy, but the K&N was the slimmest filter I could find for it. The hold-down nut barely keeps from dinging the hood. But it clears.
This guy seems to have put a lot of work into researching block colors:

I must've had one of those "oddball" 360s he mentions, because it was definitely orange. :eusa_think:
